I already know, so SPOILER ALERT: GREEN= Draft Black = Free Agency Here is how it is going down, folks. My predictions: 1. Cousins to Atlanta (Florio seems to think that Cousins' wife is from Ga and they were checking out schools in the area. Done deal) 2. Wilson to Minnesota (Just re-signed Jefferson and there is no competition for the job as there would be in Pittsburgh. Raiders possible) 3. Mayfield to Tampa Bay (they must love him there, without Canales. TB may be only team willing to write a $35m check for Baker) 4. Fields to Raiders (with a lot of cap room--about $50K, they can afford to give up a second rounder if necessary or so and still pay for Fields) 5. Williams to Chicago (first overall draft pick) 6. Daniels to Washington (Baltimore highlights are on their shared local newscasts--they want the next dual threat QB that rivals Jackson--Maye obviously the smart choice here, but I have a feeling...) 7. Maye to New England (Pats take the QB that Washington doesn't) 8. McCarthy to NY Giants (NY will trade up to reach for McCarthy and play him behind Jones for a season.) 9 Nix to Denver (Denver has no cap room and they will have to take a QB at #12. They probably will not be able to outbid the Giants to move up to #4 or #5 to get McCarthy, so Nix will become Sean Payton's apprentice. Hard to believe he would be drafted in the top 12, but some have Nix rated the highest of the second-tier QBs, and I see Nix as a good fit under Payton) 10. Penix to Pittsburgh (The Steelers have limited cap room, so a free agent beyond Russell Wilson is not likely--instead, they will take the strong armed, slinger from Washington.

I was higher on Legette until I watched him at the combine. He did not look as polished as others with second round grades. We need excellent route runners and YAC guys. I got excited about the UF WR Pearsall. The type who becomes the steal of the draft. Athletically, he was elite, he runs good routes, has good hands. So far, not being shown the love, but I imagine that when the dust settles, he is an early second round guy. Legette may drop to round 3.

I forgot about Sullivan. Tremble was targeted 30 times and caught 23, 3 for TDs. That is pretty good efficiency.

I got to know Wharton a bit, talking to him every June at OTAs. He was one of the nicest Panthers I ever had a brief chat with. Great guy. (Nicest ever had to be Jake Delhomme, fwiw)

This is a roster spot--I think Tremble is ready to step up, and (this is going to grind some gears) Ricci flashed a bit as a receiving TE--as a FB, he sucked. Ian might get cut, but if we are going to run it, he might be worth it to keep.

I was born in Columbia when my father was playing for the Gamecocks, so I have always been a fan of sorts. I agree. Of course, I would take Travelle Wharton all day long right now! And for a seventh rounder, Capt Munnerlyn was pretty good.

OK, so I am Detroit. I have more cap room, and arguably fewer needs. I know that Carolina has no first rounder and they need one with the new staff. My first is #29. If I can negotiate a first now and maybe a second in 2025, then offer a $110m contract for 4 years, I think it could get done.

In my view, he is a situational pass rusher and not an every down player because he is a liability. Worth much less, and that is my only beef. OCs started running toward his side, so our response was to move him around, sometimes in coverage. So we were defensive about our defensive player, sorta. I am not upset about it, but I want the team to save money for Brown, Luvu, a CB, and a G. It will get done, and maybe Burns realizes he is not a one-trick pony if he wants top dollar.

By "one piece" he could have meant GM. (I will be here all week!)

They have to extend Moton now, and that is not a bad move anyway. They need to sign a G in free agency, maybe a CB. They need to hit on 2 WRs in the draft. Since drafting Steve Smith, I am not sure I can think of 1 in 20 years.

I miss Marty Hurney. Seriously, we could sign him to a long-term deal and then trade him, but that is also a long shot.

I do not like the "two first round picks" compensation--that means a team like the Commanders, for example. Their first rounder is 2600 points in trade value + next year's first, which, for example, could be around 1500 if they improve. Therefore, Burns costs them 4100 points in draft trade value. Detroit was interested in Burns at one point, and they have the 29th overall pick and seek to make a deep playoff run next season. That means they would have to offer 640 points. If they stay at #29 in 2024, in this example, they would have to spend 1280 points for Burns in draft capital vs. the Commanders who would have to spend over 4000 points for the same player. Having said that, 1280 points for Detroit is the equivalent of ONE 10th / 11th overall first round pick. That may seem to be a good value for the Lions.

Personally, I think pressures are a more important stat than sacks because sometimes, the first to arrive and move the QB off the mark sends him into the arms of the last to arrive, who gets the sack. I also would like a stat on how well an OLB holds the edge on a running play. So maybe there is more to this than we see, but I get it--we live in the age now where college players do not attend bowl games in order to workout and not get injured. Same basic concept?

Yeah, that Tarzan chest pounding and Tool Time grunting may have worked at MLB, but not GM. Burns is 25, so there is that--but I am not sure I would seek a long term deal. Keep him for a season and see if you can find some others. I am also aware that we had some good edge rushers in Charles Johnson, Greg hardy, etc. that came of age in year 3. MAYBE there is hope for Barno behind Burns--we shall see. Leota was not that bad last season as an undrafted free agent, but he is more of a backup for YGM. Johnson? What the hell was that? (BTW, he and Burns are the same age).

OK NFL Nerds with little to no lives: What does this mean in relation to the possibility of trading Burns? In other words, does this distinction provide an indication of what they intend to do? It would seem to me that they might have better luck trading him after the draft--but I don't keep up with patterns, so I am curious. Now I have to get back to a fulfilling, very productive life.
