Exactly two days ago no one on this entire board would be calling Miles Sanders an elite RB or a target in free agency. Last offseason the Philly media wanted to move on from him becuase he was declining. Philly had an incredible year and Miles had a good year, but Miles didn't really improve as a pass catcher and there was a lot less attention on him with all of Philly's weapons. As I said on page 2 or so of this thread, I like the signing and he can be a #1 back for us, but then when I saw the money, I thought we overpaid by quite a bit. 4/25 is a lot of money for someone like him. But hopefully there's an out after this year or next in case he doesn't live up to expectations. I'm guessing we paid 20-30% above market value to get him to come here over stay in Philly

MJ in talks to sell majority stake of Hornets
amcoolio replied to carpanfan96's topic in Charlotte Hornets
I will miss having the GOAT as owner, but he wasn't putting the required resources in the team...There were several reports that head coaches passed up our offers becuase we didn't want to pay assistants. We were the exact opposite of Tepper and the Panthers. These two guys in Woj's report...they aren't rich at all. I surely hope that some mega rich guy comes in an blows MJ away with an offer -
You didn't bother me, I wasn't singling you out, sorry if it seemed that way Foreman just got 3 million... Jamaal Williams who just had 17 TD just got 4 million...I am just in the camp that unless you are CMC, Adrian Peterson, Jamaal Charles... that level of RB, I'd rather not have a big contract for a RB considering how replaceable RB's are in the league right now...as evidenced that very few if at all are drafted in the 1st round. Every dollar counts in the NFL, and I wanted to be more flexible next offseason in a much better class of free agents Same with Hurst....it is a lot of money for a tight end that I'm not sure will ultimately make a big difference in terms of wins....we are gambling on both Sanders and Hurst that they improve to be much better than their new contracts. It's possible I suppose.

Why do people take such offense to facts on this forum over 6 million a year is a lot of money for a running back that doesn't catch many passes and is very streaky. I'm well aware of Miles' production, I said initially I liked the signing, but when the money came out we overpaid. It's not like I'm the only person with this opinion

Its a lot of money for a non-elite RB. I hope we don't regret it

Not in love with the money, hopefully the guaranteed is lower or there is an out after this year or next

He was good last year. Philly hasn't used him right since they've had him. He's a legit #1 3 down back, even if he only lasts a few seasons
-
I would still like to move on from Henderson and get a good #2 CB. DJ isn't reliable enough to be a #2.

Yeah I don’t think anything Rodgers said is wrong, the Packers have a tendency to be cold and cut or trade players in their prime when they are done with them with no communication

Panthers sign Bengals TE Hayden Hurst
amcoolio replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
We literally started winning a bunch of games when we traded CMC, that tells you all you need to know about the RB position, as much as I love CMC and wanted to keep him DJ Moore isn't an elite player, his production can be replaced. He's an above average possession receiver. He's not in that tier of Chase/Jefferson/Tyreek/Steve Smith that take over games. He's Jarvis Landry. -
Former Panthers QB: “No doubt in my mind” they pick Bryce Young
amcoolio replied to Cary Kollins's topic in Carolina Panthers
I wanted Corral last draft if we were going to take a QB and I’ve said repeatedly the last few weeks I think both Stroud and Young are special talents and I’m fine with either? What biased takes? All I said in this thread is that it is possible that Young has a Steph Curry effect that changes the way people draft and people got all bent out of shape for no reason. Some of “you guys” like to argue for the sake of arguing -

You guys? What is with the constant uneducated takes here? Matt Corral was injury prone in college, and couldn’t even last a preseason game in the NFL before a major injury. Bryce was not. And will not. -

I'm not a Young fanboy, and being injury prone isn't predicated on size...Matt Corral is just an injury prone player -

It's possible that Young can have a Steph Curry-like effect on the NFL I'm fine with either Stroud or Young -
I think both Stroud and Young are special. Stroud has the higher floor, Young with the higher ceiling. If we go with Young we need to hire a health and training staff just for him to make sure his training regimen and body is under control, similar to what Victor Wembenyama is doing (#1 overall NBA pick 2023, best prospect since LeBron)

I've always thought of Chinn as a 3-4 LB. That said, if a team wants to give us a decent receiver for him, I wouldn't mind Bell is a fantastic signing. Best safety we've had in a while
-
Apparently Davante Adams threw a bitch fest on instagram over the Jimmy G signing He might be available, but we don't have the draft capital
-
This is why you don't take a QB in the later rounds when you desperately need one. If you have another bad year you are picking a QB in the 1st the following year anyway. Completely wasted pick. Might as well keep him now
-
Young should have been on HGH the moment the CFP ended, what is that man doing? I agree that Young would be a Lawrence/Luck level prospect if he was 2 inches taller I disagree about Stroud being at his ceiling, he showed in the UGA game that he had some scramble ability. I think the coaching staff will work with him to be more loose and move outside the pocket. He has the speed apparently.
-
I feel like we could have done it without the 25 2nd round pick. Chicago would really turn down Moore and 2024 1st and a 2nd this year? I don't think so.
-
I meant in terms of smooth collected passing and finding the open receiver with perfect mechanics, but not improvising much or scrambling. If you watch his tape, it looks like Dak Prescott's NFL tape. I think Dak is CJ's floor. If he never improves, he will be as good as Dak Prescott. Which is not bad and a safe #1 pick, but you'd hope for more. Its up to our staff to get the most of him, by all accounts he seems coachable.
-
Nor will he in Chicago
-
CJ is very similar to Dak Prescott. If we take him the coaching staff thinks they can improve his intangibles to a tier above. With Young I see a lot of Russell Wilson and Mahomes, it's obvious he's influenced by them. But he's just really small. Russ was built and Mahomes is much taller.

Some of you are incredibly impatient and/or shortsighted. The Panthers also are slated to have a ridiculous amount of cap room next offseason. You get your QB now, then make the big splash next offseason when he is ready.
