Tepper hired a private investigator to look into Deshaun Watson
Davidson Deac II replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Might be right, who knows. I take everything I read nowadays with a grain of salt. Or maybe you are the PI they hired, and you are just here trying to distract us. -

I am not saying it's true, and in fact I don't really care if it is true, or if they are doing it. It could be a complete fabrication, or it could be a rumor that isn't true. But things like that are difficult to keep secret. In my experience, some people like to tell others about interesting things whether they should or not. Those people could be a secretary that handled the booking and the payment, or someone else that works for either organization. And the Panthers hiring an PI to investigate would be interesting. -

There is a 100% chance that someone would know this. For example, the one they hired and anyone that worked for him or her. Whether they would tell somebody in the press is anyone's guess. -
Your solution for the QB situation?
Davidson Deac II replied to AU-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't have a problem with taking Pickett, or any of the college qb's with the first round pick. Most of the predictions regarding college qb's success in the NFL are just guesswork anyway, so whomever we draft has as the more hyped qb's do. There is a part of me though that says Rhule wanted the trade with the Jets for Darnold. He made his bed, he should have to lie in it. Either turn Darnold into a decent qb, or find another job next year. -
Doesn't seem like we will be at this point. Fwiw, I think Reddick would be a great piece to have if we felt we were close to challenging for a SB title. But until we get the qb situation resolved, I don't see much point in signing him for a ton of money.

He only has to get one team to agree to it.

Wouldn't need Chase Young. I would tell them, a third round pick and absorb some of his Cap his next year, and he is yours. Or maybe just the third round pick.

We are probably not as far away talent wise as many here think. Two good olinemen and a QB would put us in position to contend, if we had a different coaching staff (a big if). Of course, getting a good qb is the trick. They aren't that easy to get, and Bridgewater II, I mean Garapalo ain't it.

Deshaun Watson said no thanks to Carolina Panthers
Davidson Deac II replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
We brought Darnold in knowing he on the field issues, and he predictably failed. If we had brought in Watson, knowing that he had off the field issues, no reason to think he wouldn't have failed eventually either. We have screwed this up so many times. It's an indication of gross incompetence. Good quarterbacks aren't coming here via trade or free agency. We are going to have to draft someone and hope it works out. -
If we draft a QB, I want Carson Strong

Personally, I prefer someone who can get the ball out quick and accurate over someone who can run around and buy time scrambling. IMO, that is what separates great qb's from decent to good. Of course, a qb who can do both would be even better. -
Your All time Panthers Coaching Staff

In some ways, 2005 might have been the best job coaching we ever saw from a Panthers staff. We had an offense that had one great receiver (Smith) one guy who was old and slow, but clutch (Proehl), a slightly above average running back in Foster, and another running back who could always get a tough yards 1 or 2 yards, but little more than that in Stephen Davis. The defense was not dominant, but could play well and forced a lot of opportune turnovers. And with that, we made it to the NFC championship game. -
Never really thought of Eli as elite. He was good, but the SB wins were mostly due to great defense. Ironically, Joe Flacco and Aaron Rodgers have the same number of SB rings.

Seems things are getting a little better on the auto front. My wife's car got totaled a couple of weeks ago. Decided to get her a new Rav4, and it arrived today.

And a Superbowl ring.

Del Rio was good, no doubt about it. But it helped that he had a good helping of talent, especially in the front 7. Best defensive line we ever had with Peppers, Rucker in his Prime, Jenkins healthy, and Buckner. And the linebackers were great, with Morgan and Fields (before injuries and cancer took their toll). -
They are always going to give it to an offensive player, but Aaron Donald was the MVP, hands down. He forced the Bengals to adjust their offensive strategy, and then made the play of the game to seal the win. Without him, I think the Bengals score on that last drive, and maybe even put it in the end zone.

I think he definitely improved as a passer. In fact, in 2015, he was one of the best at the deep ball. He never got that great at hitting the short and medium range receivers crossing the field in stride. Probably his only passing weakness, at least until the injury damaged his arm.

Sanchez was never that good, just had a good defense. Marino comparison could be valid, but you never can tell. They definitely need to upgrade the Oline though. Maybe we can convince them to trade with us. Top ten oline pick and they give us their first and second.

Or at very least lined up under center, to give the illusion they might run.

Well, that is ball game. And AD should be MVP.
