  1. Historically speaking, a new coach almost always gives a drafted guy a shot. So, Corral will likely get a shot. Even if we do draft a qb in the first round, Corral will likely get a shot. Might just be a shot to be the backup for a few years. But Corral will be here next year, unless of course someone makes a decent trade offer for him.
  2. Perhaps we should draft qb, but intentionally tanking has never worked. The Dolphins were the last team to try it, and they still haven't made a playoff game. Of course, we are likely to get a high draft pick even if we don't tank, so this may be and likely is, an irrelevant conversation.
  3. Ok, but at this point, both Washington and Chicago seem like competition for a high spot.
  4. Honestly, that was a great call by the ref.
  5. Funniest thing said by the announcer tonight. Worst thing you can do with the Bears is to cover all their receivers.
  6. We probably have to draft a qb this year. But I agree that tanking to do it is unlikely to pay off.
  7. This just in: Dan Snyder is having legal problems.
  8. Fields is very slow getting the ball out.
  9. Have to admit at this point, I am glad that we didn't draft Fields. Or Wilson. Or Lance. Jury is still out on Lawrence and Jones.
  10. I am not sure we are worse though. I mean Cam's arm was shot, Kyle Allen is an adequate backup, and Will Grier might not ever play another down the in the NFL.
  11. Either we start playing well or we make a run at the top draft pick so we can draft the next Baker Mayfield or Jameis Winston. Its a win/win for us.
  12. Never have understood why the age thing matters. Well, other than having a slightly shorter NFL career. But if we want someone to come in and play well within a year or two of being drafted, I prefer a 25 year old young man over a 21 year old kid. I think there is slightly less of a chance that the 25 year gets scarred by the constant pressure of being an NFL QB.
  13. Yeah, its been a while ago, and I am getting older, so the memory isn't what it once was. But from what I remember, there was more enthusiasm about the Rivera hire than Rhule. While he certainly had his supporters, I seem to remember a lot of complaining about it.
  14. Was it? From what I remember, a lot of us were hesitant about hiring a coach with little or no NFL experience.
  15. The offense could get at least marginally better if we run the ball more. Against Arizona, we ran the ball 19 or 20 consecutive times in the third and fourth quarter in a close game. Unless Tom Brady from 10 years ago is your qb, that isn't going to work.
  16. The same thing that always convinces me. That being wins. The bigger question is how many wins would it take? I would say that if he finishes at or above five hundred, then yes he earns the right to continue as coach. Otherwise, we should probably look elsewhere.
  17. I think it depends more on our own offense. If we can protect PJ and he can get completions (and avoid interceptions), we have a shot. If not, it's going to be a long day for us, even if Kupp is sitting on a beach in Hawaii.
  18. Meh, his press conferences have zero impact on whether we win or lose football games, so he could show up and talk about the latest episode of House of the Dragon for all I care.
  19. And Snow got fired because he came in with Rhule. My guess is he might have quit anyway.
  20. I think we need some help at Defensive end and linebacker. But I generally agree, QB is priority 1.
  21. I would say the same thing about any of the powerhouse programs. It's really hard to get an accurate read on how good some of them really are given that they are on teams that have significantly more talent than the teams they play against.
  22. Agreed. The only thing we can really glean from this is that Snow and Rhule are gone. Actually, when reading what Tepper said, appears that Fitterer might have more power now. Panthers fire head coach Matt Rhule after 1-4 start to season (nfl.com) Rhule had to much power, and now the GM is going to have more input.
  23. Not really. The offense was terrible before he left, and terrible after he left. The Eagles, Giants, and Patriots games from last year were some of the worst offensive performances I have ever seen.
  24. Most of the clear cut consensus qb's don't pan out anyway. Baker Mayfield, Jameis Winston, the draft is littered with qb's that end up being overrated. Unless we can sign Lamar Jackson or someone similar, just got to hope for some luck.
