  1. Dafuq is this challenge? Does it even matter if we’re right? Isn’t the challenge worth more than 9 yards in first down?
  2. Well we experienced a very small nugget of success during the second half of 2022 and felt a hint of optimism for the first time in five years, then promptly showed most everyone who had anything to do with it the door in favor of an "all-star" staff that was composed entirely of people looking for jobs. Week 1 2023 we lose by two TD to a team that couldn't pass for 100 yards. So I wouldn't call my attitude "excited" at the moment. It's more like I feel neutered of hope or like a scorned optimist. Wilkes did make the games worth watching last year so excitement can definitely scale with success. Will patiently wait for the reward that feels so far away atm.
  3. To be clear, I'm not bashing Bryce. I'm squarely in the wait and see crowd, just want to see him improve week over week. However, these comparisons to Manning, Burrow and other accomplished qbs that struggled are just ridiculous. You could much more easily build a list of QBs that ended up being terrible with comparable 1st game stats. Example: Jimmy Clausen 19/33 182y 1TD 1INT Now, I'm not saying he's Jimmy Clausen any more than his first game stats say he's Peyton Manning or Joe Burrow. I'm just saying these comparisons....at all...are a ridiculous way to support an argument. Let the rook cook, we'll all know in time.
  4. Said it before in another thread, worth repeating. My biggest concern is we looked best early and significantly worse as the game went on. All I really care about is seeing improvement game by game. Having some confirmation that the trajectory is positive. Panthers teams fading is nothing new to the fans even if the players and coaches are.
  5. IMO offsetting penalties should be overhauled. First, they should only offset if the yardage penalty is the same. A 15 yarder vs a 5 yarder should be a net penalty application. Second, personal fouls should always take precedence over any other foul and only be offsetting if both teams are flagged. Matters of player safety should always be penalized!
  6. That's not what he said. He said "hopefully" we get Jaycee back quickly.
  7. The thing I found most concerning today was that we got worse as the game went on.
  8. Let him walk for his own sake. The only way he’ll have a good 5 year injury free run is with another team. Black cats are curses.
  9. This is his second injury just running.
  10. Hell I thought he was going in motion.
  11. Lol - Chiefs have lost a grand total of 16 regular season games in the last 5 years combined and they're gonna lose 7 this year?
  12. If Burns isn’t the kinda guy we pay then who in the hell are we paying?
  13. If Chark is on the field more than any other WR then injury wasn't a concern.
  14. The NFL has provided plenty of examples of quick turn arounds and a few teams surprise every year. Nothing wrong with believing we could be one of those teams this year. There’s enough talent on the team to compete. How well the coaching staff extracts that talent and how quickly our young players progress will have a lot of influence on how the season progresses. Theory crafting wins/losses is an exercise in futility. Even with perfect logic the better team often loses in the NFL. I simply hope we see a team improving with each game this season. That’s the standard I’d like to see from a new staff and our rookie QB. Just continue to improve, converting experience into progress.
  15. Carr looked surgical against KC. The entire offense was operating at a very high level for a preseason opener.
  16. Playing from behind, a lot of passing.
  17. We just drafted Young #1 overall and you think Corral is in the running?
  18. Well we now know if we had stood at #9 Levis would have been the only option left. All of the big four QBs are gonna be measured against their draft position. Levis is a bit more interesting to look back on in five years since he would have been the only option left without trading up.
  19. All aboard the Bryce train! ChooChoo muthfuggers! I applaud this off-season, for better or worse we made moves to immediately reverse course. We’ve had a sad five year run. I think we all feel some juice right now.
  20. Historically, any #1 pick is a gamble. It's just such as a huge investment with such high expectations. The busts are really visible. Just a few #1 busts in recent memory. 2007 Jamarcus Russell, 2010 Sam Bradford, 2015 Jameis Winston. Wouldn't call 2016 Jared Goff a bust, but he's already on his second team. Point being, all these #1's had better physical attributes than Bryce and still busted. Bryce is a gamble, but literally so is everyone else.
  21. How am I overlooking it, my second sentence is literally stating that he is smaller, I even use the phrasing "technically correct" to assess your take. Otherwise, I don't disagree with you. Just gonna have some faith, if the staff can't get this pick right then there may be little hope they would have succeeded with anyone else.
