  1. Only link I can find between the HC candidates and Manuel is Ken Dorsey. They played together at Miami for 3 seasons.
  2. I'm curious who Dorsey would bring in as his OC. Maybe Joe Brady? Kafka was a guy I wanted Panthers to look at as OC last off-season, but I don't think he's ready for the HC gig yet. I feel like Reich/Caldwell are more of OC candidates to pair with Wilks than true HC candidates.
  3. Wilks has had to put feelers out to other coaches during the last feel weeks, right? I mean if not for here, he's bound to get interviews elsewhere now. Jim Caldwell is someone I thought could be an interesting OC pairing with Wilks even before news of him interviewing for the HC came out. I wonder if Wilks may have floated the name to Tepper and they are interviewing him as "HC" just to see if his ideas gel with what Tepper/Wilks want to do.
  4. In terms of building a culture, I feel Wilks is who Tepper thought he was getting when he hired Rhule. That said, Wilks like Rhule needs a strong supporting cast around him to be a difference maker. The defense regressed after he took over and that was supposed to be his strong suit. I'd really need to know what his plan is at OC and DC before being fully on board with him coming back.
  5. Rashard Higgins - here is a guy we kept hearing about all training camp making plays and his connection with Mayfield. Yet we're in the last week of the regular season and he's appeared in 3 games and hasn't recorded a stat. I thought for sure he would have been a decent #3 or 4 WR when the season started.
  6. The guy is the highest paid college assistant in the country at 2M per year. OCs in the NFL are usually less than that. It would probably take a pay raise to get him to leave Georgia to be Wilks OC. Apparently you are forgetting the 3 seasons he spent in Tampa as the OC where he put together a top 5 offense in 2017 and 2018. The 2018 season alone got him some HC interviews before he ended up in Cleveland and Freddie Kitchens gave him no role.
  7. I mentioned this on Twitter, but is Wilks really wants to sell the offensive side of his plan, he should reach out to Todd Monken and see what it would take to get him to leave Georgia. They have history together being coordinators in Cleveland, so it might make some sense...
  8. I blame whoever decided to wear all black. We never win in all black.
  9. Last week felt like a trap game for Seattle. You could tell by the Vegas line that the "far superior" team wasn't getting as much love, even at home. This week it's pretty even, so I don't consider it a trap game. Panthers definitely have more momentum at this point in the season which would make you think they are the better team, but like others mentioned it's just a matchup of mediocre teams.
  10. Yes on Wilks assuming he brings in a new OC, even if they win out. Darnold - depends on his asking price. We have no cap space so we're gonna need as much money as we can get. I'd rather go with Corral
  11. Darnold is going to string together 3-4 wins, watch.
  12. Jim Caldwell as Wilks OC would be interesting, assuming he wants back in the NFL and isn't a HC.
  13. I'd say this with freed up cap space in more appealing to a head coach than Brian Burns
  14. I'd make a case for Charles Johnson. Granted he had Peppers on the other side early on, but he had 1 "break out" year before Panthers gave him that huge deal.
  15. Wilks seems like the type of coach Tepper thought Rhule was going to be. He has all the makings of a great motivator and seems like he could really rebuild the culture here. Howver, he doesn't necessarily jump off the page to me to be a defensive mastermind or great in-game manager. I still think he would need a great supporting staff around him, much like Rhule should have hired right out the gate.
  16. All picks combined, value is a late 1st.
  17. All the good Observer writers end up making the move to ESPN. Probably is his best path to "make it big".
  18. I wouldn't be surprised if Tepper opened up the checkbook for Sean Peyton. He's the biggest name on the market and is so tone deaf when it comes to how fans would react. My short list would be Ken Dorsey, Raheem Morris, Mike Kafka. I also want to see what Joe Lombardi does in year two with the Chargers. He might be a decent candidate.
  19. Western NY Bills is more like it. Fan base runs from Buffalo, to Toronto to pretty much Syracuse at this point.
  20. Looking over the cut list of all the teams, there really isn't much out there. A few guys at TE I'd look at like Kroft and Austin Allen. DE has some sleeper names like Janarius Robinson who could still develop. Other than that, pretty underwhelmed.
  21. I hope we all woke up this morning and this was the first thing we read while taking our morning poo. It's only fitting..
  22. Michael Jordan said it's the NFL and sacks happen
  23. I don't remember Corbett looking bad at all. Unlike Jordan who was getting pushed around pretty bad. Im surprised Thomas-Oliver III is that high. I honestly thought he would be cut in the first group after that game. He got burnt a few times and had a big holding call that was credited to Westry by mistake.
  24. I'm not sure what happened on that play. He had plenty of room to keep running it and pick up a sizeable gain but was looking downfield the whole time. There was another play, I think on that drive, where the intended target looked like he was trying to keep his toes inbounds like he was on the sideline, but was a few yards away from the sideline still. Not sure what he was thinking.
