True. For the first few years there was this debate about where they should put him, safety or OLB...and the argument would be he's not a prototypical safety, too big, but he's too smsll for LB. Very much considered tweener before that was a thing.

look up "star position" it's a hybrid DB/OLB that has the freedom to roam and look for opportunities to disrupt. they can line up anywhere based on what they see the offense doing. Jalen Ramsey played this role with the Rams and this is something that Evero became familiar with in LA and i think he utilized in Denver. just something to think about, because that is what Evero might have in mind for Chinn.

he's more than a scapegoat and there is plenty of information out about the amount of control he had, and it wasn't control Fitt gave to him. Fitt walked into a situation where the coach had been given too much control. it was eventually rectified, but not after a lot of really poor choices had been made. it was Tepper (still green to the job of owning a football franchise) and hurney (who sucked as a GM) that gave rhule that control.

he had a very limited pool to choose from as far as players and coaches and only went with whatever and whoever he was familiar with.

this was at a time that rhule had control of the roster (which was a REALLY bad idea). Darnold was the only option for a QB that rhule had any knowledge of and that was only because he interviewed there.

they like Young a lot. they'll get him a couple prime time games.

i'm ok with the draft. biggest issue was getting a QB and we got the best one in the draft. everything else is just gravy.

Yes, that is also why i am not worried. They got players they could work with in complete faith that they can.

I'm not saying it's easy and I don't think really anyone is. I just don't know why anyone is worried about this stuff right now? I could see it being a concern if the season was starting in a week or two, but it's not. The team we have post draft isn't the finished product. These guys are smart. They know where we need help and they've got options to address it still. There will be free agents. There will be schemes utilizing who we've got. They'll make adjustments and adapt and find a way to make it work. Call me naive, but I trust this group of coaches and this FO to find who we need and figure it all out using who we have when the season actually starts. It's not like the team is being run by Matt Rhule anymore. Give it time. Lord knows we've got plenty of it before the season starts.

We'll do whatever we want to do with the players we've got to fit the situation. And we'll score. There's more than one way to play offense. There's more than one way to handle 4th and 1. Just calm your worried minds. It will be ok.

I have no doubt that Evero was asked "of any defensive player left, or any edge left, which would you want?" With Caper's input, I'm sure, Evero said DJ Johnson. I trust these guy more than any other staff we've had, and I trust them a lot more than any collection of draftniks out there.

Us with Bryce is a lot scarier team for the NFCS than ATL with Bijan. I said it before, they should have drafted Jalen Carter. That would have been more worrisome.

Agreed we were better off focusing on offense. Honestly we probably should have oe offense with the 3rd. Might have had better value there. Because of the run on pass rushers, they'll be more vet FAs to hit the market. Just load up on vets.

Love it. The guy is a brawler. The team absolutely loved him and there's no way he would have lasted till later.

Like I said in another thread, if anything our pick at #1 should have influenced their pick. Young can do a while lot more damage to their defense than Bijan could ever do to ours. The smart move and better pick would have been Jalen Carter.
