at least if people are booing and complaining, they still care. it's when things are silent that things are bad. and to expect everyone to just be happy and excited and cheering when things are bad is just insane. being a fan doesn't mean delusionally and deliriously happy... i mean it can, but it doesn't have to mean that. being a fan means that you can get pissed when things are bad. what we are looking at now, though, is that there are a lot of us that are crossing that line from being pissed to being apathetic, which isn't good....but when you're status quo is 5 wins a season and you don't look like you can even reach that level and there's no indication from official channels that things are going to change that, apathy is to be expected.

i really liked the idea of an innovative guy who was into analytics and had turned a couple programs around. still a good idea. we just don't have that guy. i thought that coming from college where things are more progressive would have been an asset, and with the right guy it might be. the problem...one of quite a few...is that coaching kids in college is a different beast than coaching grownups. totally different mentality. someone good at one very well won't be good at the other. people generally coach at the level they are best suited. one thing is for sure, you can't do the same things at one you do at the other. it's not "all just football". and no...mccarthy wouldn't have been much better. we'd still suck, it would just be a different kind of suck.

marty hurney did the same thing. he was always more interested in the story than the skill (that's what you get when you hire a sportswriter to be your GM). hurney may have influenced tepper a bit too much.

i don't want us to get beat...ever. i never have. not even when we were in the cam newton sweepstakes. i had every confidence that we were bad enough to get the losses needed to get that first pick. i highly doubt we will win, though. i just have no confidence that we will. i mean it's possible, but any wins we get will be rare and infrequent this year. i don't want us to tank purposefully. i just think it happens. the difference is that when we were in the running for first pick to get cam, i was certain we'd have enough losses to get it. the problem is with this...just how many losses is enough for tepper to pull the plug? i just don't trust him to do it any time soon.

and our unit spent the whole of training camp in some sham competition when they should have been gelling with each other and baker (who shouldn't have been part of some sham QB competition either).

i think i started in '04 as well. i can't really remember anymore. huddle was a very different place back then lol.

just an fyi...huddle is a few years older than that. that date in 2008 was after the great meltdown after we got stomped in ATL a few days before. board melted down literally. @Jai. was around for the original board, though.

makes no sense to quit. he could have any college vacancy he wanted whenever he gets fired and he'd have time/money to sit and wait if he wanted to. that's a lot of money to give up.

when he got hired, vick was the QB...which is why petrino took the job. vick got into trouble before petrino could start coaching him and never got to use him, which is why he bailed.

my goal was to stay awake through the whole game this week. for the most part i did but it wasn't easy. i caught myself snoozing more than a few times. i'm not really interested in seeing if i can do it again.

they weren't just proud. they were talking about being a for sure playoff team and they were getting things lined up for a playoff run. it went straight up to their heads so fast it lifted their feet off the ground.

rhule tried to eliminate that....which he actually succeeded in doing. thanks, rhule. new culture rhule was bringing in was absence of character and excitement.
