Potential Trade up to 19th Overall w/Miami

Yeah, let's trade our first away bc the Seahawks did it. After all, why can't we all follow the Seahawks model and have a bunch of late rounders turn into studs? Because, as Gettleman said regarding Cruz, "If we thought he'd be that good, we'd have drafted him earlier."

Jeez, you guys act like it's so easy when it's mostly luck lol.

Also, the 3rd round pick, especially this year, is a little more valuable than some of you seem to think. Once those compensatory picks start getting added in is where the value really drops.

Who suggested trading away a first? I said teams do it, some don't. You say Seattle's roster is luck but in another thread you'll say we don't need a #1 WR because Seattle doesn't have one. At the end of the day only one team wins it all and trading away a first isn't going to cripple you no more than letting all of your WRs hit the door, or doubling up on DTs when you have other needs.

Moving up a few spots to grab a WR is a lot better than trading back and hoping for a starter. Yes this is a deep WR class, but the talent isn't equal across the board.

I understand how you feel about picking late but think it through....Do you want to make the playoffs and lose in the wild card every year? Draft position is part record but mostly based on how far you go in the playoffs.

I'm fine picking late, there are still lots of intriguing players on the board. To me drafting late sucks in the 2nd round when the last of the big names are scooped up and by the third you are taking players with big question marks.

Actually given our 0-4 record the last three seasons after a bye, might not be a bad idea to go for a wild card spot. Wild card teams have made the SB quite a bit. In a perfect world, I would want us to be a consistent 9-7 team, maybe a SB appearance or two and still get a top 15-17 pick. Thats a good right balance imo.

I personally would trade this year's 2nd and next year's 1st and 4th to move into the top 5 for Sammy Watkins. Dude seems to be a generational type WR. We would then have franchise superstars at WR, MLB, QB and both DE positions. And also pro bowl caliber players in Olsen and Star.

Guys I'd consider trading up for at #19 who may actually be an option:

WR:

OBJ

Cooks

Evans (I'm not 100% convinced that teams are as high on him as is being reported, but I also could be 100% wrong about that.  It would be a big shock to see him still there at #19, but I won't be surprised if he falls out of the top 10.)

OT:

Honestly, nobody.  I think Robinson, Matthews, and Lewan are all long gone and they're the only three I'd be willing to trade up to acquire.

IMO, WR and OT are the only two positions I'd be willing to trade up for.

As I said earlier. I love making the playoffs but it really does suck the fun come draft time when you have such a crappy pick like we do. I wish there was some kind of balance, like we go 9-7 every season, make the playoffs and still get a top 15 pick lol. Get best of both worlds. Still make playoffs while still getting a decent pick.

Honestly, out of Sammy Watkins and a few others, this draft seems to be filled with JAGs, doesnt seem like a big difference between 1st and 2nd rounds.

I cant agree at all.

Picking late hasnt seemed to dampen New Englands last decade.  There are hidden gems all through the draft and I think that we now actually have a gm that can find them.

And how would we afford all these guys ?

You are completely insane.

2 Firsts, a Second, and a Fourth for a WR?  Thank God you have NOTHING to do with the Panthers draft.

Not two firsts. We would have a first round pick in the top 5 tonight, we would only have a net loss of one first round pick for next year. I still think the Falcons trading for a guy like Julio wasnt a bad move. I think Sammy W is atleast on par with Julio Jones.
