4th Round - Carolina selects Tre Boston, S, UNC

Let him get hungry and get taught by the vets at the safety posish that we brought in and maybe rough him up when he starts acting like the little bitch it's been mentioned that he can be, and we'll have a ballhawk. You can't ever have too many of those. Could be a good version of old Sherrod Martin IMHO

Has size and skill. Plays a little too aggressive sometimes. Swings for the fence a lot. He's not a huge hitter but does not mind mixing it up. Definitely seems to play the ball more than the man sometimes and therefore seems to take too many chances. Some proper discipline could turn this very experienced starter into a very serviceable db with decent hands and speed who can also contribute on ST.

I don't hate it. Especially for where they got him.

UNC fan here. Kinda surprised by this pick, but im happy about it as well. Surprised bc i didnt think he would go in rd 4, but nonetheless, this kid has talent. He frustrated me a lot last year bc he gambles too much and therefore, he got beat deep a lot. The reason i like the pick though is bc the talent is def there and with rivera, etc. coaching him, he could turn into a very good player for us.

Anything can happen with any of our picks but my gut instinct is this draft is going to set us back. Just an instinct and I hope I'm wrong. Some of it hinges on KB. And the rest hinges on Gettleman ignoring OT.

I get what you are saying. I got the same feeling for the 2010 draft.

Maybe look at it this way

If we suck, higher draft picks

For what it's worth, I thought the 2010 draft was going to be a great one and it made me super optimistic. Since that draft obviously sucked and it cost us, there's reason to believe my feeling pessimistic about this draft is a good sign.

    • If Reich or Fitterer were still around I think the need to extend Young because of what he cost would be stronger.  And yeah Morgan was Fit's right hand when the call was made but there an equal chance that Dan will see it as a chance to move on from Fit and shake off that stink. Holding out some hope that 3 years and clear eyes will allow for an honest appraisal that Young just aint the guy
    • As far as elite/elevate talent QB’s It’s Allen Mahomes Jackson and Burrow that’s it.  Then we have tiers and those can be debated all day Dak is a good QB but I know this board would want him out of Charlotte if he was the QB here. 2 playoff wins in 10 years. Justin Herbert no playoff wins. Threw 4 interceptions in last years playoff game. 23 TD passes last year. 20 the year below and 25 the year before that. This board loves stats without context and these stats aren’t saying they’re much above complimentary  Kyler Murray isn’t good. I’m not sure how he made this list.  Caleb Williams, Trevor Lawrence both benefiting from some real good offensive coaches right now. They’re both complimentary pieces until proven otherwise  I like Jordan Love. Always have. I wanted to draft him but he isn’t a superstar.  CJ Stroud hasn’t been much better than Bryce after his rookie season. After that Bears game year 2 his numbers very similar to Bryce I will say I think Drake Maye is well on his way to becoming the next top tier QB if I had to pick one from this entire list. I’d also say Baker Mayfield is a damn good QB and I’d take him over most of those guys not in the elite category  Now if you want to debate tools and which QB’s possess tools to put them in higher tiers that’s a completely different discussion. Most QB’s on your main list all have those physical tools that will keep you thinking he’ll become the next top tier QB. They’ll sprinkle in a “wow” play or two a game. Bryce will never look that way. Young’s game at its peak will physically always look different and I think that’s where most people struggle when it comes to seeing how Young’s can be successful in the league  All QB’s need a team around them. I think the Bills are failing Josh Allen much like the Panthers did Cam. Beane and McDermott using same blueprint with Bills team. Josh Allen hasn’t had much in terms of WR’s and it’s ultimately costing them when it matters the most
