We didn't do Cam any favors, and if this is it we're gonna have some problems

top dawg

I personally enjoyed the draft and came even said he would be happy whatever the front office brought in because he believes in them. If it's good enough for cam who we all supposedly trust as the new face of our franchise why do you doubt ?

At our second pick I wanted one of Robinson, Moses, Ealy...seemed like Moses and Robinson were both BPA and a need so looking back at that pick maybe another direction would have been better, but I get the Ealy pick in terms of leverage/long term need and the value.  He obviously wasn't high on the OT's in this class because we had plenty of opportunities yet passed (ahem Fleming rd 4) . Hopefully we resign Wharton and add someone after cuts.

Assuming we avoid a slew of injuries our offensive line should be better than last year, with the exception of LT and we still have plenty of time to bring in someone who will upgrade that spot. I understand the concern but I'm fairly optimistic, compared to most, about our Oline at this point.

Helping the defense is helping Cam. The best thing for a QB is a dominant defense. We've seen this over and over. From Eli's superbowls, to Big Ben's superbowls, to Rusell Wilson Super Bowl and the consistent winning of Crapernick. Defense is a quarter back best friend, not a Megatron, ask Detriot.

Come playoff time you can always always always stop a dominant receiver, you can always stop two dominat receivers but theirs nothing you can do about a dominat defense because that's 11 players.

I honestly believe that we are helping Cam out more than the Colts are helping out Luck. Now I obviously don't mean offensively, but giving Luck all these weapons won't help the Colts stop anyone and you can't make it far in the playoffs playin bad defense.

Cam is fine. Yes, Luck has more weapons on O then Cam, and yes his stats may be better because of it, but I don't care about stats, I care about wins and that's all Cam cares about as well.

BPA is for losinf franchises.

I always point to the Pats/Ravens/Steelers/Eagles and now Niners as teams that know how to get a younger version of the guy they let go or traded.

BP is lazy and short sighted.

Sustained success comes from having a system and knowing tje value of a player as it relates to the draft board.

So those teams I mentioned trade up or down but NEVER reach for a player.

Now Gettleman will make sure he uses Ealy to vindicate himself to his critics.

Stubborn to be honest.

Hopefully they rotate d lineman to stay fresh but we shall see.

BPA mindset leaves you with holes and over invested at spots.

Kelvin Benjamin, Jerricho Cotchery, Jason Avant, Ed Dickson, Tiquan Underwood, and Greg Olsen >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 2013 receivers

We got "two" day 1 players out of the draft: KB and Turner.

Bell - Silatolu - Kalil - Turner - Chandler

Still believe that we'll add another vet OT someway, somehow. Rather thats after cuts, FA, or trade.

Cam is in damn good shape.

I feel a little conflicted to tell the truth. Probably because I feel I have more questions after the draft than heading into it.

I loved the KB pick. I was extremely concerned we'd take Ealy here. I was hoping he'd be picked before us so that wouldn't even be a possibility. But with DE and WR on the board they made the right choice IMO. We also avoided the dreaded USC curse of having to worry about Lee, even though I still liked him too. That pick had me ready to party all weekend and you know what, I still am. Can't believe they let Mizon go on air and pick him in a mock draft, Gman pulls the double bluff to perfection.

So here comes round 2, I'm screaming Moses, Moses, Moses. I can't believe Moses is going to fall to our second rounder, Its a no-brainer, right? Hell, I could even live with Robinson. But no, that "blue goose" is still sitting there at pick 60. Say it ain't so. NFLN have been talking about Kony going since the Cowboys traded up for Lawrence early in round 2. It's a glaring value pick challenging a massive need IMO. What to do? Boom goes the dynamite, Kony Ealy to the Panthers. Love it or Hate it, you can't deny the value. I'm conflicted, here's a guy I hoped we avoided one round earlier falls into our laps. OK, I'm on board we have to get a T next round. Next round and I'm happy again.

Watching the next picks tick around was once of almost frustration, are there any decent OL even left. Moses, Turner, Britt, Martin, Gabe Jackson all gone, dammit, hell even Chris Watt goes before we pick. Who's left that's even worth a damn. What's wrong with Tiny? I think I read something somewhere he might have to redshirt a year. Missed one, Panthers select Trai Turner, RG, WHEW. OK its not OT but it fills a need, RG was a disaster and Wharton likely is done. Back on track.

Picks 4 and 5, ESPN's favorite CB is sitting there waiting, Oops, sorry, Cleveland grab another CB. However I'm not quite buying the idea we wanted Desir and that was the reason for the trade up for pick 5. Tre Boston is the guy and every UNC fan and hater goes nuts. Me, I like the kid, I think I drafted him 3 or 4 times in mocks, just not this high. Was looking at Telvin Smith or Anthony Johnson here, both got busted for diluted samples. We actually were spotted spending time specifically working him out after the pro day so he was obviously a guy we liked on his own merits and not some consolation prize for losing Desir, a quick review of the Shrine game kinda backs that up. Both Boston and Bene got good reviews for their performances that week. Desir plays in that game too BTW. I can life with Boston and Bene, both are positions of need and they are decent ballhawks, behind our newly vamped front 7, I'll take that.

Pick 6, honestly I'm thinking no way we grab a tackle this late, If we've passed this far it's not going down, just go ahead and draft Boyd or something like that. What, Tyler Gaffney? LOL you're mocking me, your telling me with all the junk and reaches i've seen selected by other teams from rounds 4-6 nobody picked up this kid. This kid was on Mooches game changers for crying out loud. Do you know who was on it last year that was a late rounder? Kenny Stills.

Is it a need, NO, not right now but I can't argue with another value pick.

So at the end of draft day I'm left thinking, what's going down at DE, How long does Delo, Stu or Barner have left because Tolberts a fricken beast. And what are we doing at T, surely we have to pick up a vet now. Still so many questions. Are the answers truly still on the roster?

I said it once and ill say it again. Im not quite sure I agree with the whole draft BPA over need mindset. Ok so we get Ealy, great. Hes a

BPA. The problem is, hes not seeing the field anytime soon. Sure hes "leverage" but so what? We still have a oline in shambles.

Say im shopping for a car, Im a family man with three kids. I have the choice of a SUV or a porsche. Well using my BCA strategy (best car avaliable) im getting the porsche because BCA overrides all! Nevermind the fact I bought a 2 seater coupe when I have a wife and three kids that still dont have anywehre sit.

So we got our porsche in Ealy. Unfortunatley Cam is the kid left out in the cold because there isnt enough room for him in my porsche.

So let me see if I understand what you're trying to say here...

You'd turn down purchasing a shiny, brand-new Porsche that you could buy for the price of a minivan?

I expect more than just over the top responses JOAT.  I have never called for firing G-man, much less killing him.  I guess if I tell you you're G-man's groin sniffer that  your response would make more sense.  But, i know you're better than that.

OK, here's a response.

It's not September yet.  Teams will make more cuts between now and training camp with regard to how they think their rookies will fit on their roster and replace higher-priced players.

Then those higher-priced players will be looking for work.  Some of them will be OL.  Some of those will be OT.

It's not September yet.

Capice?

    • The bottom line is we saw long stretches this season where T-Mac wasn't even targeted.  He had games where he went an entire half without seeing a pass thrown his way, and it lead to a bunch of games with 5 or less targets.  If he's healthy and we're not up a stupid amount and only running the ball, I can't see him having more than a game or two next year with 5 or less targets. We were also only 22nd this year in pass attempts, and that was with a rookie #1 and no legitimate 2nd option for half the season.  And even then, we were only 46 pass attempts above 31st place. If we go into next season with T-Mac improved in his 2nd season and a healthy Coker for 17 games, there is absolutely no reason for us to not throw it more.  That right away increases both of their target totals without sacrificing any targets from each other or other players, add in them taking targets from the TEs and RBs on top of that, and your argument just doesn't hold water anymore. You can't look at targets/yards in a vacuum and think next year Coker just takes some from T-Mac.  You have to look at the team as a whole and our situations this year and then project what will happen next year. If he's healthy for 17 games, I'd bet my life savings that T-Mac sees increases across the board, targets/catches/yards/TDs.   Just as Coker will also see career highs in all categories, it's not one vs the other, it's shifting offensive strategy given our personnel, which next year will be much better for our passing game (QB issues aside).
    • C'mon now.... First, you can't switch up your argument once someone points out a major flaw in your point. You're saying we shouldn't expect a big increase in targets/yards for T-Mac, but then shift to talking about averages with Chase when I point out the significant leap he took there once you factor in his missing games.  He saw an increase in targets in 5 less games, averages aside, he saw a significant increase in targets in his 2nd season, what he then did with those targets is actually irrelevant in this discussion. Puka seeing no increase is pointless, as he saw such an absurd amount of targets for a rookie, it's near impossible to see an increase. But the real issue in this post is that you think I'm proving your point by showing how Waddle had to share targets with Hill. Tyreek Hill was a 1st team All Pro who was 2nd in the NFL in yards that season. If you think Jaylen Waddle sharing targets with a 1st team All Pro and a future HOFer is even remotely in the same category as T-Mac needing to share targets with Coker... then you are certifiably insane, lol. If anything, you could make the argument that Coker is to Waddle as T-Mac is to Hill in that discussion (which would then lead to a serious increase in targets/yards for T-Mac).  But even that is insane, as neither T-Mac or Coker will be as good as Hill and Waddle respectively that season.  I love both of their potential, but c'mon now, T-Mac isn't getting 119 catches for 1,700 yards and Coker isn't getting 117 for 1,350 next season.
