Kemo out of surgery>>out for 9 months to a year

One of my best friends got to observe the procedure and it just ended a few minutes ago. Everything went well but the performing doc said he'd def miss all of this year and gave an eta of 9 months to a year.

One odd notable fact was that since he was so large they had a hard time locking down the operating table and it was not as balanced as they normally like for it to be.

Anyways... I dont think this news comes as a shock to anyone... still, it certainly sucks.

one of the team doctors for the Panthers says that ortho guys always overestimate so A: they don't look bad if complications arise and B: so that when they make a miraculous comeback it looks better on them. When Carson Palmer went down, the doctor who did the surgery said it was going to be a 15 month recovery when the tendon wasn't even fully torn and Carson was back six months later lol

but yeah, Kemo is done with the team. He's 31 and has a huge roster bonus coming up next year. Sorry big guy, thanks for the memories.

I was thinking something similar. I think we've seen Kemo in a Panthers jersey for the last time. I don't think he'll come back from this.

Palmer had surgery Tuesday in Houston. Doctors used grafts from other parts of his body and donated tissue to fix the damage during an operation that lasted more than two hours. Palmer headed back to California on Thursday to do his rehabilitation.

    • Bradford and Pennington would have passed 2nd round criteria. The 1st round criteria is a little higher and career longevity isn't factored. Years started is, because as a 1st round draft pick, the expectation is that you will be a starter and likely for a long time. But you can see why I shied away from using statistical means. You can end up cutting some objectively amazing players like Steve McNair or Cam Newton. Or even someone like Eli Manning.  That's why I stayed with award/accolade or length of starting career or career. The logic being that if your peers(HOF), the fans/peers(Pro Bowl) or the media(All Pro) regarded you as one of the best, that accounts for a lot. It's taking a wide swath of largely well regarded opinions about a player's performance. In a manner of speaking so does career and starting length. That is the greater NFL(FO, coaching staffs, etc) saying that you are a valuable addition to the organization in some capacity(starter or backup). Statistics are tough because they ignore changes in the game and the vast differences in individual QB's. Cam was never a high completion percentage guy but he dominated many of the games he started. He changed the way people played us. TD:INT ratio seems like a decent enough marker but it eliminates gunslingers and especially old school style gunslingers. Guys that might have had MVP caliber performances(McNair) couldn't meet that criteria.  It would probably be equally difficult to screen players by career winning percentage, QB rating, etc. Using individual statistical means to measure a career is really fuging hard. Doesn't mean I can't use them but I need input because a lot of the things I have attempted just didn't have great results in what I would say are "successful" careers. And my methodology isn't perfect. Certainly there are strong arguments against some of them people that met my criteria. Largely the Pro Bowl. I suppose I could increase that to 2+.
    • A few things here.  This is from the Blueprint series, they are absolutely talking about what lead up to drafting XL.  Go back and watch it.  Again this is produced by the Panthers and they for some godforsaken reason thought it would be good to include this clip of the owners wife not only telling morgan who she liked but also it would be ok to trade up for him.  The owners wife that is in the draft room.  This clip could have easily never seen the light of day but yet they thought it was a good idea to include it.  Talk about tone deaf.   I will ask again, why the fug is she giving any input on a goddamn wr?  What are her fuging credentials other then pegging the owner?   So to your original question about them meddling, its not only clear they still are and they seem to be flaunting it.   oh and Dave Canales is like
