Big Al named All-NBA

Charlotte Hornets center Al Jefferson was named All-NBA third-team Wednesday, in a vote of media members who regularly cover the league.

Jefferson averaged 21.8 points, 10.8 rebounds and shot 51 percent from the field, leading the then-Bobcats to only the second playoff appearance in that franchise’s 10-year history

Fug yeah

I really don't get all the love Noah gets. He is a good player but I don't consider him to be as good as everyone else seems to.

Congrats to Big Al, he totally deserved getting his name in the hat.

Name the Centers you would take over him?

He is an all-around solid player. Nothing fancy but does everything well. Has good inside game able to use both hands, ugliest jump-shot outside of MKG and Shawn Marion but it finds its way in. Great athleticism and hustle make him a great defender inside and on the perimeter. Great at rebounds with fundamentals and effort. What I like best about him is is passing ability, he has great vision and natural knack for creating for teammates. He also can bring ball up court off rebounds and push the pace.

He is a top 3-5 Center easily to me: Marc Gasol, Dwight Howard, Noah, Big Al, Timmy D and quickly rising is Anthony Davis. Listed in no particular order...

He isn't great at anything but above average at everything on the court. That is why I feel he gets overlooked so often.

I agree he is close to top 5, but I think that tells more about how weak the Center position currently is in the NBA more than it does about him. He is a good player, but I don't think he should ever finish top 5 in MVP voting.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
