BTW WOW!!  I realize it all gets a little snarky in here, but the debate is illuminating and I appreciate it.  It is actually an enjoyable distraction and discussion until the draft finally arrives.

 Seriously.

Seriously.

No problem I love the back fourth. Specially with a person I feel is a true fan of the team. Plus you back up your opinion with stats so you make a worthy dueling opinion.

I don't understand your point.  He shot a lower percentage when he wasn't open??  Welcome to the world of basketball.  Contested shots will have a lower % than open shots

Oh, and there have been studies on this.  It is true stats like PPG do not really matter but efficiency does.  Efficiency in college tends to carry over to the NBA, which is why I tend to focus on FG% 3FG% FT% because they are better predictors of future NBA success than just simply PPG.

Knew you were going to say that.

Quality of competition also "tends to" matter. After he bombs, when the next "Doug McDermott" is in the draft and you're arguing for why he should be drafted like his college stats mean so much when he's obviously not worth squat if you take a look at his lack of athleticism and picture him going up against NBA-quality competition, make sure you remember what you're saying now and realize how little sense what you're saying at that time makes.

5 all time in scoring in NCAA history, yet some people act like he can't ball.

He can probably shoot at least 45 out of 50 free throws, so I guess he can ball...not.

Free throws, by definition, should be easier because they're uncontested. So should going up against players that aren't NBA-caliber more than most of the other guys projected in the lottery who were often playing with and against guys they'll be seeing in the NBA at some point, or guys just like them already in the NBA.

To act like people should be impressed by McDermott being the best player on a team full of non-NBA caliber players going up against other squads full of non-NBA caliber talent or length on a regular basis, is silly.

He should be doubted more than most.

Seems like the guys at Fox Sports disagree with you just a weeee bit.

9. Charlotte Hornets (from Detroit): Doug McDermott, SF, Creighton. It’s no secret that Charlotte, one of the worst shooting-percentage teams in the NBA last season, is very interested in McDermott. My only worry for the Hornets is whether he lasts this long. Said one talent evaluator, “How many people in this draft do something as well anyone else that’s currently in the NBA? He shoots it as well as anyone else in league right now.” McDermott is the biggest sure thing in this draft.

They (the media) disagreed with me on Adam Morrison, too, and had Kwame Brown as the consensus #1 and said he would be the next Kevin Garnett.

I don't care what they disagree with.

I'm hearing McDermott kinda got it handed to him by TJ at their workout.

Nate on WFNZ said he had a hard time making shots on Warren.

I also heard he didn't have a great 3 on 3 here, but I also heard he had great workouts in Boston and LA.

Also, been hearing that TJW has been pretty much dominating 3 on 3 everywhere he has been

    • Yeah. That start to his career was about as bad as it can get. In New York, Meat grinder press corps, of the first degree,    When he came here he was on OC 3 - in year 3.  And people in this fan base that think they are smart, could not take that stuff into account.  Now, most of the smart ones are not Bryce Stans but Bryce gets 4 damned years free pass. At least 3  The fail of the organization AND fan base in general, fuging shamefully short sighted,  And the choking thing, players have to fail before they succeed. With very few exceptions. Last year was really his first meaningful, high stakes game. Okay, he didn’t play well. They learn from that, or are supposed to. You don’t throw out a guy with all those tools and with his rocky did him no favors background for not being perfect right away.  He might suck in the SB, but he proved a ton this year.    If we’d have had any patience he was the guy to use it on, not Bryce Young.
    • Darnolds OC when he was drafted was Jeremy Bates who was fired. He hasn’t had an nfl job since then. his next head coach was Adam gates who was fired after two years and isn’t in the league anymore. then he gets traded to the Matt Rhule panthers. His first OC was a hired WAY too early Joe Brady who was fired midseason and basically had to restart his career as a get back coach in Buffalo. then it was Jeff Nixon, who’s currently the head coach for Syracuse. the next season was the best he’d ever looked, and it was the first time he had an actual nfl offensive coordinator calling plays for him. The less said about Matt Rhule the better. then he sits a year and ends up in Minnesota and the rest is history. maybe he just had poo awful coaches for the start of his career. Maybe we should be trying to find someone who flamed out on the jets. one who’s a religious weirdo  and likes to bang married women  that’s right baby, Zach Wilson redemption tour starts now
    • Your last paragraph, painful. We suffered it all with Rhule and Fitterer and were rewarded with Bryce.  I’ll stop there, I have made hundreds of posts that say what I would say if I continued. 😂
