Cotchery on Mac Attack

Good interview.

Said its important to always get better individually in order to make everyone better collectively.

Watching this team last year was exciting. Said we just got after it, played with toughness. A lot of Panthers respected around the league.

Said KB has it. He is asking the right questions to get better and has the right attitude. Always ready to work. Will be a special player.

Always knew he wasn't going to ask to wear 89. Likes and respects Steve and knew where he was coming to. He is known as 82 around this area anyway.

He seems like a great guy! I love these new players added this year. So excited for training camp!

I really, really like Cotchery.  Even if he sucks for us this year I couldn't help but just want to give the guy a big ole hug.  I find myself smiling like a dumbass whenever I listen to his interviews.

Cool to hear what he said about his perspective of the Panthers.  I know it's mostly fluff, and of course he's going to talk him up but I'm hoping he's right about KB - Lord knows we're due a good receiver.

To be blunt that's why Smith isn't here and Jericho and Avant are. Love 89 but we never developed a #2 under him. That may be Hurney's piss poor drafting of WRs but gut tells me its not. Smith might be a good field general and mean well but I don't think his approach to being a mentor was the best and the main reason he isn't on this team.

I think Voth hinted at that a few times leading up to him being cut. Then of course you look at the guys G-spot brought in. 2 guys known to be great teammates and loved in their locker rooms that are more than eager to teach the rookies and give POSITIVE reinforcement.

Like I said Love Smitty but I'd rather have Jericho here and his 10 Red Zone TDs teaching and building up the Rook for doing the right things than Smith tearing him down for doing the wrong.

Good Points

Not often remembered; Smith also threw gas on the flame on Cam Newton (suggestion box press conference), by speaking to Brett Jensen of WFNZ when the "controversy" was basically over, and therefore giving the media carte blance to take the story into overdrive.

After this, I even remember Stephen A Smith and Skip, breathlessly stating how they "were worried about Cam in life"; "Cam better get his life together", and strongly mentioned how the the likes of Kaepernick, RG3 and Wilson had "left Cam behind (do they not understand the responsibilities placed on each QB, and the talent, coaching around them at the time, and the fact Cam never got in trouble since Auburn)". It became a feeding frenzy after Smith's comments.

At the time, I felt it was out of place on Smith's part, but few noticed or cared at the time. It was just too easy to believe the media, and Cam stereotypes.

Ironically, not to far after, Smith himself had done exactly the same thing he had reprimanded Cam for in the media.

Of course he had apologized about what he said about Newton to Jensen. However, by that point, the damage was already done (and continues by some in the media).

Let's face it; Smith can be very immature; a bully, and a me guy! Great receiver, competitor and Panther. No doubt. But you can't look over the other stuff as well, as if it didn't exist.

You lost me.  Listening to those two assholes pot stir and race bait is a complete waste of time.

When I hear those two names I immediately begin a mental rendition of Celebrity Deathmatch where the fight isn't over until they are both dead.

Y'all take Skip too seriously.  Dude is a TV personality and does exactly what he's supposed to do.  Just the fact he's brought up all the time and everyone talking about how much they can't stand him proves just how good he is at his job.  Being a professional troll that is.

    • I thought this presented an interesting point. It is fair to wonder now, about switching the two QBs as so many tried to do that first year where Bryce was trash and CJ looked great.  It is almost the reverse scenario now and I wonder what CJ would look like here with better weapons better coaching and better protection. Overall, compared year one.  If each player had been in the other place for the three years. I would love to see CJ with this team now.  Just to see.
    • I really have no clue what to expect sunday.  To quote one of my favorite bands of all time, Operation Ivy "All I know is that I dont know".  We could win, hell we could win convincingly, we also could lose in blowout fashion.  We could be in a back and forth game with whoever has the ball last winning.  I legit HAVE NO CLUE.  This isnt the dominant bills teams of the past, Allen is still elite and can win any game by himself.  That said, heres my stab at looking at things. Our defense is made to stop this kind of team.  Strong against the run, a great corner but meh talent around the field.  We've stopped prolific run offenses this season.   Javonte Williams - Season low yards and ypa against us. De'Von Achane - Season low yards and ypa against us Breece hall - 3rd worst yards in a game Fact of the matter is, we arent what we were last year, we are a good run defense and that lines up well against the bills, Stop the run.  For once the lack of moving Jaycee might be a good thing, he will essentially lock down a side and without multiple real weapons thats fine.  Buffalo does not have an elite guy, theyve got a gaggle of average dudes.  Allen will stay away from Jaycee, it will be on Mike Jack and Chau Smith Wade do to their part and they will be matched with guys they can play at the level of. On offense, we do what the bills are bad at.  We run the ball well, and they suck at stopping the run.  Rico and Chuba will need 30 carries.  Andy Dalton will need to be opportunistic.  My big fear is what we learned last year, Dalton can get overconfident and make bonehead throws.  Its this simple.  Run the ball, stop the run.  Dont turn the ball over.  If we do these 3 things, we will be in a position to win in the 4th quarter.
    • This makes me wish we took a flyer on Quinn Ewers late in the draft
