Really? Wow. The fug did I do.

just don't get into any pissing matches with him. don't respond if provoked and don't provoke. reporting like you did and not retaliating was appropriate. just don't slip back into old habits.

There isn't a trade deadline until 2015, folks. And nothing other than Boozer (which I doubt is in the plans of the FO) gives us any immediate need to rush into a trade of any kind.

We would kind of be silly to not at least bid for Boozer.

I just think it's a matter of whether or not MJ, Cho, and Cliff think that a Big Al and Carlos Boozer frontcourt would be counterproductive and redundant. After all, the whole reason Utah traded for Big Al was to replace Boozer with someone that had his similar skill sets but could play center next to Paul Millsap (who plays a lot like Boozer and in turn Big Al). Utah had some problems with Paul Millsap and Big Al developing chemistry (because they're both so similar). Many would think that that frontcourt should've been pretty dominant even in the West and it really never was.

Both have great post games, both have great midrange jumpers. The one thing Boozer does (or used to be able to effectively do) is a smooth post fade-away jumper.

But yeah I agree I mean why not throw your name in the hat if he's gonna come cheap.

Clifford could always stagger playing time so Boozer plays a bit more with Biz when he's in subbing for Al.  I think the offense there is helpful since well, Biz can't really catch a pass.

Perhaps the other thing is...how much playing time would Biz even get if Boozer was signed? I mean then we assume that Big Al, Carlos Boozer, Marvin Williams, Noah Vonleh, Zeller, and Biyombo are all going to justify playing time in the frontcourt (obviously not all of them can play center) based on what the FO has invested (draft/FA) in them.

Hell, most NBA teams are only bringing 4 guys off the bench..it really would create a logjam but if it isn't hurting the pocketbook I suppose choices are never a bad thing as long as no one is complaining about PT.

personally i would keep hendo unless some team throws out an offer that is too good to turn down (an expiring contract and/or a draft pick). i dont see how boozer fits in with all the forwards that we have, and the need for them to get playing time (i assume williams will be playing at least some time at PF as well as zeller and vonleh). plus i dont see how having boozer and jefferson works in terms of the defensive ethos the hornets have developed under clifford.

there are going to be some teams desperate to add to a playoff team come the trade window closing, so unless something happens before, keep him and see what falls our way

if im cho on the other hand, i see us making a trade which includes hendo and biyombo, and also a future draft pick in order to obtain another piece of the puzzle in order to contend this year (a year that in my eyes is wide open to make a deep playoff run). thats about $10m in salary, that could be better utilised.

btw biyombo's qualifying offer next year is $5.4m. if we do keep him, i hope to god we dont entertain giving him this!

Was over on the real gm board looking around. Got to the Bulls board, they have a thread talking about trading Mike Dunleavy Jr. for Hendo. Some are against it, but there are more for it.

So, how would people on this board feel about it? I would because we have depth at SG without Hendo, and we could use another wing shooter. It would also create more cap space to look at Boozer and 3rd string PG

    • You joke, but it can always be worse. He might walk with a limp or need assistance. Different sport, but Lonzo Ball couldn't even walk up steps a year after his injury.
    • I mean... a lot of the information that could've helped set better expectations has always been out there: There was no RB on the team under contract for the 2025 - 2026 season except for Miles Sanders. The team did not have a second round pick going into the 2025 season due to the trade for Young. Chuba's extension did not happen until the beginning of November. Jonathon Brooks was the clear RB1 in the class with a massive gap between RB1 & RB2. Example: Dane Brugler had Brooks as RB1, overall #48; Blake Corum was RB2, #81 overall. The Giants held pick #47 and had just lost Saquon Barkley to the Eagles in free agency. They were going to take Brooks had the Panthers not jumped in front of them. So if we're framing things with that context: Chuba was expected to be RB1 Miles (at the time) was RB2 Brooks was essentially RB3, stashed for rehab in 2024 with a long runway. The original injury occurred Nov 2023 while the re-injury occurred December 2024. That is right in the high-risk window for recurrence, especially in explosive athletes. The fact that it also happened on a non-contact play suggests possible biomechanical issues such as muscle imbalance, rather than a failed surgery (or bad decision-making).   NFL teams invest heavily in medically vetting prospects. If there had been a clear red flag in imaging or recovery markers, the team is going to find it. This sucks and the Panthers have sucked, yes, but this wasn't blind optimism or malpractice by the front office. It was a calculated decision based on the roster, draft capital, positional scarcity, etc.
    • Yep, but they can all rotate with Brown, Brown and Robinson (sounds like a law firm). Can't continue to have Derrick Brown out there for 90+ percent of the defensive snaps. An injury was bound to happen.
