What's the MOST important aspect of a winning team?

Strong D-line. You can win if you can stop the run at the line and rush/pressure the QB. Everything else can be mediocre and you will still have a chance to win.

Chemistry is great, but it isn't a replacement for talent. Yes, a team with less talent and more chemistry CAN win. But i wouldn't expect it to happen every time, or even the majority. I don't think it is most important. Just my personal opinion tho. (I never coached so what do i know right? Haha!)

Someone said GM. +1 to that guy. If you ain't getting your pieces right and you ain't controlling that salary, you ain't winning fug.

Didn't think about that. I was thinking more of a position group. But yeah, the guy making personnel decisions is huge. See PANTHERS.

I mean not to state the obvious here but there is no question the most important part of being a good football team is the QB.

Here is the list of Qb's for the playoff teams last year.

Brady

Manning

Luck

Newton

Russel

Kaepernick

Rivers

Dalton

Alex Smith

Brees

Foles

Rodgers

Every single one of those guys are decent to elite QB's. No team with a bad QB even has a chance to be relevant, see the 2010 Carolina Panthers.

IMO it starts at the top.

1: GM.  Most important person in the building.

2: QB.  Don't have to have a superstar, but a competent QB means that you can compete.

3: OL.  Keep said competent QB clean, and give him time to throw, as well as open holes and you can control the clock.

4: DL.  I can go back and forth with OL and DL.  If you can rush the passer and stop the run, you can control the clock.

5: All the rest:  Owner, DB's, Tradition/City, LB's, etc....

Edited to add division.  Being in the AFC East or AFC South don't hurt.

A say mastering a system that allows you to compete year in and year out...look at the great dynasties and great teams period have a few consistent core players who master an offensive or defensive system and philosophy which allows them to plug a few new players in every year to provide a spark or fill in but the system stays the same! A team that's been together mastering what they want to do for a few years will trump a team with talent alone.. It doesn't matter who Brady is throwing to, they are successful because they have a consistent system in which Brady can Prbly complete throws in with his eyes closed... It may be tweaked year in and year out depending on personnel but the key is consistency and belief in the philosophy...I think we are seeing that on both sides of the ball here in Carolina, some ppl (me included) bash Shula but staying consistent with a system that cam is comfortable with and then expanding on that allows him and our other core players to master the system which becomes second nature and allows us to be competitive regardless of who we lose at several positions. Its even more evident on the defensive side of the ball with the system McDermott and Rivera have put in place! On the opposite side of the spectrum look at the browns and other bottom feeding teams, ZERO consistency, always changing coaches, systems, and philosophy's year in and year out! The players are constantly learning and relearning new systems.
