Punt Returner Free Agents

You need to understand what I'm trying to tell you. You can't compare 2 QBs to try to argue against the comparison of 2 PRs. You also need to learn the difference between the 2 positions as well. QB is a position you can learn. The norm for returners is they have it or don't.

So I can't compare the color brown in poop because one version comes out of your butt and you spew the other from your mouth?

Yes, please discredit all logical arguments because they aren't yours.

Nothing against Philly, but I don't want to spend the whole season holding my breath on every kick return.  I'm not buying that he needs more practice.  You can either catch with consistency, or you can't.  Returning is not new to the kid.

Exactly. He has been doing this in college, he should understand the basics of catching a punt cleanly and consistently, but he hasn't shown that he does.

Again, I'm going to root for him and call his name hoping it gives him some magical powers to return one to the house, but as history shows, returners just don't suddenly start learning the basics of returning.

Yet Ginn may be on his way out of Arizona already.

Ginn was decent, but we've had such a terrible return game for so long that people have little standards for the position.

this has nothing to do with his PR ability though...  This has to do with the fact they are paying him ~3mil a year to be a punt returner only.

moot point.

which he's going to make the team at 3mil a year only as a punt returner....

That's not even the point. He shouldn't have had to recover them.

You know that the NFL games can hinge upon mistakes on kicks.  He is consistently bobbling the ball.  Just because he is recovering muffs today doesn't mean he'll recover them tomorrow.

You were still trying to tell everyone that David Gettis would turn into a real WR just earlier this year.

So how are you going to keep shitting on this young man after only one preseason?

I've stated very specific reasons why Philly is unreliable. All you've done is bring up illogical and unrelated points.

I've brought up several counter arguments to your rambling of the same sentences strung out using different words. Alas, as much as I would like to regurgitate back and forth, I want to get to bed. I have more important things on my mind than quarreling with a child that doesn't know how to prove a point. You should have went to law school. As a janitor.

    • I see progress and improvements. We aren't the same team we were even at the beginning of this year. You want to harp on the past while I am all about the present and future. Do I know thinks are going to be great moving forward? Actually I don't but I prefer to look at the good instead of the bad. Since he is surely going to be the QB the rest of this year barring injury, I am going to root for him to succeed instead of fail. I always said if we are going to finish at 500 for the year I prefer we win at home since I will be there and want to see wins and crying opposing fans like the cowboys. So far mission accomplished. Now we have to show we can win on the road.
    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
