This maybe a Stupid Question on this Forum?

Personally, I will always think of him as a Panther, and hope that his family carries on his legacy here.

But I also have the benefit (in this discussion) of living out of the Panthers' market, and I can tell you that outside of the Carolinas, Sam Mills is remembered as a Saint. Period.

I think probably by and large he'll be remembered as a Saint, if the criteria is restricted to playing years. But when you consider how great his impact was on shaping the identity of the Panthers notion of how defense should be played - both as a player AND a coach - I think you could make a good argument for Carolina, too. Remember when it was Sam, Kevin Greene and Lamar Lathon hammerin' guys like Deion Sanders and Michael Irvin? God I miss those days!

But if he ever goes into the HOF, I'd bet that the family would insist it be as a Panther. Just my opinion...

You don't go in as a player of a particular team if I remember correctly, you go in as a player of all the teams you played on. we have one HOF on our list- Reggie White, even though he played one year for us and is remembered for the Eagles and Green Bay.

I'm pretty sure that a player can opt for what team he goes in as. If posthumously, I would think the family can hold sway, but of course I could be wrong, it wouldn't even be that unusual...

Nope. I think it was Marcus Allen and his war with Davis that was trying to get it changed so that the player could choose. The Hall decided to just list the player under all team that he played for and bold where he spent the most time.

Obviously, teams take great pride in the accomplishments of individuals who have been a part of their organization. Often individual teams and even the Hall of Fame will list enshrinees according to the team or teams on which they spent a significant period of time. An enshrinee, however, is not asked to “declare,” nor does the Hall of Fame “choose” a team under which a new member is enshrined. When elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, an individual is recognized for his accomplishments as a player, coach, or contributor.

So does the jersey of every team the player played for also get displayed? I think I remember that only the Packers jersey was displayed for Reggie White, so I ask the question. I wish they would have gone in more detail about that one, that's what I was thinking about, I used poor choice of words. Of course maybe I'm still wrong and if I am, I'm taking a road trip to see a Panthers jersey in the HOF...

    • Another layer to that is Ive seen Seattle has been in the market for CB help this off-season.   Michael had a higher PFF grade than Horn who got 15 games this season. He wants to be here too, that's a huge bonus for any 5 win team that had awful pass rush.  The 7th rounder Michael Barrett didn't last long on Seattle, he was cut before the season I think and ended up on browns PS. He's already been on 5.......5 teams within one year.......
    • You have gave the board some recent gold via posting. Heres my poor attempt at the truthful play-by-play of the time during post- I pulled out the old laptop to do my shitposting and check on websites. Open the huddle and see this new thread. Open thread and read CRAs post, {inner thinking, oooOOooo this is my lane and I got this}. Make sure not to scroll even to the 2nd post. 23% of current neurons still firing start up and two names appear- Captain and Josh....... about another 43 seconds past "O GOD" it's July 4th weekend and I got medicine to pick up. (If the laptop didn't give away my aging, the meds should...) I need to split, think long panther careers and the hint-  Ryan Kalil was a late 2nd and Pro bowls(even all-pros too) he's got to be OLman and Mikie Minter is among the all-time Panthers career leaders. Drop my post. Scramble to get keys, wallet, and phone. Check my phone- its 17% battery.....fug I now have to raw dog the pickup line and put the phone on charge.... Flip flops, sweat ringed filled hat, and shades acquired. Get in my pos rav4 and think about not running the A/C. Pull out the drive way and reach the 1st stop light, A/C is wide open. I check my shirt to see if there's any new stains on my house shirt, bush off the Bojangles salt that I see.... Neurons re-fire and focus on the comments CRA made that no one would get this....... Dang IT, that means it isn't Ryan Kalil or Mike Minter! CVS is close, but I know its impossible I get back withing 10 minutes to change my post and my phone is on the charger. {Think you monkey, at one point you were a draft nerd}. Reach the CVS line, by some grace its not 5 cars deep during 5 o'clock traffic hell. Im second in line after the car in front of me both turn in, they have to go back and forth to line up while Im a pro for that geometry. Neurons finally reach peak performance as Ive re-thought draft classes. Think obscure and unknown 7th rounders with long careers. Some Sunday/Monday night member berry fell out of my Melon, Will montgomery during the players intros for washington. I thought he out of the league and was shocked to see him still playing around the 2015 years. I do a goggle background check and that refreshed memory. Pick up the meds and enjoy the sweet smelling cool CVS air. Driving back and check in on one of the local bums at the big stop light, wow he's got a new fancy rug. Think about all the old food I got and need to start giving it away and rethink it. Reach home and post a follow up and I know Minter is wrong too, I check the draft history and see Robert Mcclain. Too late, but that would have been my guess....open CRAs link and get "upset" at the DBs name.
    • THANKS my guy! Keeping up with this threads theme, if I view a thread and there's only 20 posts and some time passes. If I see there's one new post and read the name; @Dave Gettleman's Shortsis among the chosen few that I will reopen that thread just to see what you posted.    Thanks again, plus not just a scout, thats scotty mccloughans son?!?!? If not for the deep claws of booze, scotty is among the best talent finders this league has recently had. Last I heard he ran a consulting business. Caden could be one of those who's on a early path to being a GM in the future. I was a big fan of his dad, dam shame about booze demon ruining his career.
