Ray Rice Video Leaked. Rice's Contract Terminated By Ravens.

Rice shouldn't have hit his wife but people should remember that evil is the action and not the person. The USA has more prisoners than any country in the world, even China which has over a billion citizens. It is a huge waste of tax dollars to lock up millions of Americans and the idea that Ray Rice should not work anymore is equally absurd as most people have even more issues when they become unemployed and have way too much time on their hand.

Rice needs some help. Something has him behaving in a violent and unproductive manner. Usually this is caused by violent and aggressive parenting. People who yell and spank their kids teach them that violence is the way to solve problems. It is very difficult to change 18 years of programming from parents in our most impressionable years.

The positive here is that Rice's wife is OK. She's still alive and she doesn't have any serious lingering issues. Scaring players into good behaviors by threatening to take away their livelihood might work but I'd rather see parents in this country take responsibility and stop teaching their children to solve problems with violence.

yeah i agree i'm trying to word this without looking like a jackass.......Ray and his Wife have already dealt with the situation he received what he thought would be his punishment and got on with his life.............now this footage hits the public and Him and his wife have to deal with this again........i acknowledge what he did was terribly wrong but damn is there any such thing as forgiveness, people make mistakes........i just think they took it a little to far with the suspended indefinitely, everything else is warranted

Goodell should have gave him a 6 or 8 games suspension, maybe a year with the Fine when he initial looked at the footage not go into principal mode when the media starts breathing down your neck

The issue is, he should've been released and suspended from the jump.  They can say what they want.  If TMZ could obtain the video, the NFL could have.  Even without the video, "witnesses" (although I'm wondering if that was security who reviewed the footage now, as the video shows that no one was around when it happened) said he completely knocked her out with a haymaker...  That should've been good enough for a year-long suspension at the very least.

Goodell is an idiot that makes decisions based on nothing other than how he feels that day.  There is no standard or protocol.

I think the indefinite suspension is more just to save face and make some sort of response, even though no one would sign him right now anyway.  And you can't really forgive until all the facts come out.  A lot of people had a different idea of what went on in that video than what actually happened, myself included.

I think he will play again in maybe 2-3 years.  The fact remains is that Goodell is reactionary and not 'actionary' so to speak. He always lets public opinion/backlash influence his decisions (unless its pot).  He just doesn't seem to really get it in these situations, idk, it always feel like we're waiting on Goodell to weigh in, instead of him taking action before anything else.

I don't see what the big deal is. If you want to see a real beating look up what War Machine did to Christy Mack. Sure, it's wrong and he deserves to be in trouble but I don't think he should be in more trouble than he would have been if he punched a dude. I'm a strong supporter of equal rights.

You obviously have no females in your life.  good luck with that

I agree with some of your points but you lost me at the thing about parents. That's an opinion non supported by facts.

Let me preface this by stating I do not condone Ray Rice's actions and this is something that he has to live with for the rest of his life.

If Ray Rice was initially suspending 6-10 games by Roger Goodell like many had hoped he would, do you think that the negative attitude towards him with this new video evidence would be as severe as it is? Does the 2 game suspension have any effect on your personal view towards him?

Yes. Not sure how much though.

For the record, Ray Rice was at one time my favorite player in the league. It was a Rutgers thing and my son and I followed his journey into the NFL. We weren't Raven's fans, just big Ray Rice fans.

Fug Ray Rice.

yeah i agree, basically what im getting at is Goodell fug up when he didn't suspend him for a year and the ravens didn't terminate him............instead they suspended him for 2 games and he was still employed, now the media gets a hold of footage and Goodell crumbles like pop tarts, and suspends him indefinitely........this falls on Goodell and maybe the Ravens organization more then Rice IMO, Goodell should have either stand by his initial punishment or admit he made a mistake in the original process.......at his position you can't be easliy swayed by the public

Odd that they all of a sudden think it's worth cutting over because the video cam out. As if they didn't know punching a woman was a horrific thing to do until they saw what it looks like. Of course they could have bought in to a different version he might have been selling.

He had reportedly told his teammates that he was defending himself.

After this video came out and they saw it was BS, they turned on him. He was pretty much doomed from there.

Goodell isn't going to do anything about Rice now... he will completely ignore the public reaction over this and say it's already been addressed.

He's an idiot. And he doesn't want to have to deal with D Smith.

Not quite.

There's been studies. When dealing with social issues I doubt we'll ever find anything 100% but it seems to cause lots of issues.

Don't know anything about Rice's past though. Some go violent after alcohol use, some go violent after steroid use. I'm just throwing out theories. Whatever can be done to help end the behavior. Reacting to the behavior only goes so far.

He's suspended indefinitely.

Yeah, too late to save face.  I don't understand how grown ass execs at NFL headquarters thought this would blow over.  I'm 27 and I knew this would blow up like Chernobyl.

Anyways, I'm not satisfied until he is forced to fight Adrian Peterson in an "elevator match".  Or a NFLer whose mother was abused.  Talk about some damn ratings..

I changed my tune after looking at twitter the page or so after that, lol.

Organizations were tweeting out the D.A.'s (who dropped the charges in the plea) office number and telling people to call him...  I had a feeling at that point that he was going to move.
