It's ok Huddle, I wouldn't worry. Here's why.

Losing sucks especially the first one.  We really had no chance of winning this game though.  It's not because the Steelers are better.  It's because we're decimated at running back (we lost this game when Stewart went out), and the running ability that makes our qb great has been taken away, obviously we know about Hardy.

The Oline took a major step back and got physically beaten.  To the Oline's defense they were put in a bad situation.  Pittsburgh knew we were going to be one dimensional this game without any healthy running backs and no threat of the read option.  Despite this it was special teams that cost us this game and any positive momentum.  Jumping offside in the redzone of 4th down.  The Philly Brown bs.

Defensively we did a poor job stopping the run and their was never adjustments made to counter Pittsburgh's short quick passing game.  I expect this to be a humbling experience for them.  Hopefully they'll refocus.

Either way we really need to get healthy somehow.  I think we'd be better off playing DA until Cam is fully healed.  We're a different offense when Cam can take off.  I don't expect this performance to be the norm.  I'd expect a different team to come out next week.

Keep pounding.

P.S  Costas is a gay.

Keep Pounding.

Umm, we lost this game even when Stewart was in. And there are lots of things to worry about. We have yet been able to run in all three of our games. If we can't get just a little run game going, we are in HUGE trouble. Our O-line is horrible, Cam is hurt, and Mike Shula is still our O-coordinator. Enough said.

We still had opportunities to win this game.  Both of those special teams mistakes we're huge momentum shifts.  The second one sealed the game.  We can salvage the season we just need to sit Cam until he gets healthy so we can actually run the read option.  The read option opens up the entire run game if Cam is actually a threat to take off.

That might help a bit, but until we get some competent O-linemen, we will continue to struggle badly in our rushing game. I wonder how long this Byron Bell project is going to go for. He absolutely KILLED drives this game and continues to get manhandled.

I just can't use health as an excuse when Pittsburgh lost three studs on defense in the game and still kicked our ass. Hopefully we can beat Smitty and the Ravens or things will get real bad around here.

Was their starting qb, 1st, 2nd, 3rd string rbs, the number 2 wide out injured?

I agree Bell and the entire offensive line had a bad game.  We had no threat of a run game though.  Because all of our rbs are injured.  Stewart rattled off some decent gains then he gets hurt.  Then their Dline is pass rush mode the entire game.

Last year's team lost to Buffalo early, so I'm chalking this one up as our one WTF loss for the year. Any more and it will be cause for concern.

Yes, thus ends the "easy" portion of the schedule, but as it stands right now, unless somebody gets hot, the NFC South looks like it could be had at 9-7 or 10-6.

I'm more concerned about Cam's long term health for this season. I can't remember the last time he got up after being hit where he wasn't gimpy and grimacing.

    • Man, I havent posted in a while, happy to see the forum is alive and well!  Really excited about this upcoming season, and this draft class!  Lee Hunter will be an instant fan favorite, i might go ahead and purchase his jersey.  Will be interesting to see what we do at Receiver, a lot of talent and a lot of bodies, does XL get traded, or do they give him a shot this season to see what he has?
    • Goings was good too.
    • I appreciate TMo, he has been a rock. Plug and play, set and forget. But there are stories that they ice his knees or knee in game when he goes to the sidelines. If it is that bad that is pretty rough and it probably won’t get better with age and more wear.     You want to pay him, and commit that money, I shouldn’t object. But let’s at least roll him over a year at a time.  He isn’t a particularly good long term gamble.
