Thread on Oline lineups

I see a lot people throwing out ideas

I didnt know Amini was a tackle in college and I don't recall us given him a shot at T here. Bell feet move too slow to be a tackle and seem to be doing worse on the left than the right. I mean the first play he let Cam get hit. Any chance he and Amini could switch? Im sure Chandler last year was a guard, not a T

Honestly, just now I realized we got a lot of undrafted offensive linemen

No, he is little bit too tall for guard and would probably get out leveraged by DT's. The OL is lacking chemistry issue more than anything. Amini was holding off Star on his own in training camp its matter of time before things start clicking for the OL.

I bet by end of the season Amini-Kalil-Turner are going to be strength of the OL.

I was wondering if next year we sign or draft a tackle or two and move Bell to guard. It seems to me that Bell usually gets beat off the edge so maybe guard would be better for him? I thought Bell played well week one but now he and Amni look bad on a weekly basis. I also think Cason seems to get picked on a lot on D.

Right now I'd love to see an Amini-Velasco-Kalil-Chandler-Bell lineup. That would put Bell and Chandler right back where they were last season and Amini back at his natural position from college. We're at a desperate time with the line. I think we should try anything at this point.

If we address the line like we should next season, Bell should be a backup.

They won't do that because that would be admitting they were wrong with that left handed crap and the dt turned ot experiment.

Bell and Chandler needs to be on the bench!!

Keep Turner at RG; I want to see what Norwell can do at RT.

    • Yep, the Panthers powers that be seem desperate to convince themselves he can clear the bare minimum bar of demanding a legit franchise QB contract. Canales seems to be laying the groundwork here of building the case that all of Bryce's shortcomings are still there and even more glaring than you may have thought while his strengths aren't nearly as strong as you had hoped and aren't near enough to make up for the lack of pure physical tools. When you have historically anomalous lack of measurables you need historically anomalous positive intangibles to make up for it. That was always issue with Bryce as a prospect. Like Parcells said when evaluating him, "he better walk on water".
    • I'm honestly not sure how much "west coast" plays into it. There's a huge difference between Tucson, AZ and Spokane, WA where he spent the previous two decades of his career. Chapel Hill is significantly different than Spokane but way more similar to it than Tucson. You're talking about a pretty significant plane ride to get back home either way. He and his family would be flying private and direct so we're talking about a 3ish hour flight vs. a 5ish hour flight. That's basically a wash. It's not like he went from Gonzaga to another PNW program. Tucson is a dramatic departure from Washington state. Honestly a far bigger departure climatically and scenery wise than Chapel Hill would be.
    • When asked if he thought he was close to returning to game action, "When you skate just with the goalie coach, it's tough to understand what your level is. Today, Svech scored on me a couple — probably a bad moment for me. I don't know. I'm probably very far from play if he scores on me." God, I love Kucci!
