Blood Moon 8 Oct 2014

The 2nd blood moon of 2014 should be visible in the Carolinas.  Total eclipse set to begin at 6:27 am.  So if you're up you still have to to check it out in the next few minutes.  I have never seen one so I'm pretty excited.  Enjoy!

Well damn. Clouds rolled in at 6:25 so we missed it. Just curious to know if anyone else got to see it.

I didn't get the best view of it as I was leaving for work but it was still really bizarre looking.  I hate I missed the majority of it while I was in the car.  By the time I got to work it was over.

I did. It was awesome. It was also so bright last night I hardly ever used my flashlight

I saw it. It disappeared eventually. Wasn't that red imo.  It was like watching a lunar eclipse. It was pretty cool. Night sky last night was beautiful too.

 looking at it with the naked eye, it wasn't that red, but the pics I took came out very red for some reason.

I saw it on the way to work. The side that was eclipsed had a red tint to it. Pretty neat looking really.

 If I had brought my good camera to work, I would, but what I have is not good quality.  But they are red.

There was a group of about 30 standing outside this morning.  We had a perfect view of the moon up until 6:25 am.  Right at that time the moon vanished.  At first I thought maybe a UFO shot the moon out of the sky, but then realized it was a damn cloud.  There's always next time...

Heard it was called a selenelion which I declare as the word of the day and also a great name for a band. 

 

 

Speaking of a rare occurrence, a couple of weeks ago I was driving with my daughter and we drove through a rainbow. I am not smart enough to know how that happened but it did. 

 

When we got home we saw another rainbow and the end of it was in my neighbors front yard which I had never witnessed before either. There was however no leprechaun or pot of gold.

Because of the dust from the plains we get a lot of moonrises and a lot of times it's red
