American Horror Story - Freak Show

I read an article that popped up on FB this week that basically said we haven't seen the last of Twisty and Dandy will prove to be worse than twisty. Too lazy to link it

I read that somewhere too. Both Twisty and Edward Mordrake are said to be back sometime during the season.

This, and if I understood correctly, the freaks are physically unable to lie to Mordrake. He knows of they are lying or holding back if I understand correctly.

They CAN lie but he will know. I took the whole thing as Twisty killing those people and saying he did good things instead. Like a little kid that doesn't want to get in trouble. He may have been simple but he had to have known the difference between murder and kind acts. He was clearly delusional but Mordrake seemed angry that Twisty wouldn't admit to being so evil, implying that Twisty knew that he did horrible things. Either way, I enjoyed the back and forth between the two.

I still want to know what else happened to twistys face that it looks like he is scalped at the top.

I wondered the same thing. In one of his last scenes it looked as if maybe he was wearing someone else's scalp on top of his? Dunno.

That's what it looked like to me as well. He is wearing someone else's scalp. I think we may find the answer to that question as the season goes on.

Also, let's not forget, Mordrake almost took Elsa. He was just short of striking her down until he heard music that led him to Twisty. I think that can be somewhat telling of her character too.

I have a theory about what is going on in this season. Potential spoilers below

I think the story that is unfolding this season is the origin story of Bloodyface from Asylum. The show's creator has come out and said that the seasons are all connected and it will be very clear how by the end of this season. I think that Dandy becomes enamored and then infuriated by the freaks and decides to exact his revenge because of their refusal to accept him into their troupe. He finds a taste for killing and will do so more efficiently as he goes along. He also will become smarter about how to exact his revenge by shutting down the freakshow (somehow) and having the freaks be commited because of their physical and mental abnormalities. Freakshow takes place 12 years before Asylum so it's plausible.

I also think that the snuff film and the weird poo that happened with Elsa and Berlin, Germany has ties to Dr. Arden and his kinky sex stuff and Nazi experiments from Asylum. It is worth noting that Arden amputated Shelley's legs in almost the same manner that Elsa lost hers. Drugged, tied down, and helpless. Arden also created the "freaks" in the woods. So I think that there is something to this.

I'm excited to see how they tie the seasons together, however it plays out.

All kinds of homages in this season.

Sarah Paulson is doing a really good job portraying Dot and Bette. Some nice acting chops on that one.

Maybe it's just me but it seemed this episode spent a lot of time with character developing, kind of dragged a bit in my opinion. Maybe I am just feeling a little gap without Twisty. Next week seems to be pretty crazy, though.

" The American Horror Story installments ofAsylum and Freak Show just became even more connected: EW has exclusively learned that Lily Rabe will be appearing on Freak Show and reprising her Asylum role as nun Sister Mary Eunice. The actress, who has appeared in every season of AHS and is currently starring in the ABC midseason series The Whispers, will shoot her spot this weekend."

Did you notice "Pepper" is also in Asylum and Freakshow?

Yep. This could be a segue into how Pepper ended up in the Asylum if Lily Rabe is coming back as sister Mary Eunice with Freak Show taking place in a setting period before Asylum.

Maybe so.

Did anyone else remember how much of a goofball and dunce Mary Eunice was before her accident in Asylum?

    • We're in alignment regarding Thielen not being a game changer/breaker for the Panthers. Getting the ball into hands of playmakers like TMac and XL is going to open up things more than it is getting it to Thielen underneath (or letting him go after 50/50 balls 20yds downfield in his mid-30s). However, in a room where the other guys are two second year guys and two rookies, having a reliable vet that they can learn from is just as important as it is for the QB to have as a reliable third option. I can see that being worth $8.5M (just 3%) of the $279.2M cap... especially when looking at what's left out there: https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/_/position/wr However, the idea that the team is forcing production to Thielen and leading to losses isn't supported by the data. Targets, not receiving yards, are how you can tell if a player is being "force fed." In the two games mentioned, let's look at the other players available... vs. TB 10 targets - Adam Thielen 9 targets - David Moore 8 targets - Tommy Tremble, Xavier Legette 3 targets - Jonathon Brooks 1 target - Dan Chisena, Feleipe Franks, Stephen Sullivan vs. PHI 11 targets - Adam Thielen 8 targets - Xavier Legette 5 targets - Chuba Hubbard, David Moore 2 targets - Tommy Tremble 1 target - Ja'Tavion Sanders, Deven Thompkins There isn't exactly a bounty of other names to throw the ball to. In those games, AT was one of the top 2 WRs. Diontae had been gone by that point.   So... yea. Agreed that Thielen isn't exactly carrying the team in his mid-30s, but it's undeniable that he was the most reliable target last season that still has quite a bit of value this season. Whether or not that value is reflected in a manner folks think on the contract is going to come down to personal taste. However, the idea that the team was forcing production to AT and that was the reason behind some losses couldn't be further from the truth.
    • I would also add that I think it's more than money.  AT has looked absolutely miserable out there at times, and there was a lot of speculation he would demand to be traded.  Personally, I thought he was a lock to be moved last year.  Maybe his hamstring is the only thing that prevents that from happening. The fact that he's not only willing to come back and play, but excited about it, really bodes well for Bryce.  AT is a veteran and he knows the game.  If he didn't have confidence in Bryce, I guarantee you he wouldn't be in a Panther uniform this year.  I'll take that as a positive.
