Thomas Davis on Tie

This board was split roughly 50/50 yesterday on people who were ok with the tie and others that felt like it was a loss. Maybe accepting mediocre comes with being a long time Panthers fan, I don't know. I do know that no self respecting competitor is ok with a tie, especially given how that game was ended.

Here's the front page of the Cincy newspaper today that Person tweeted out...

No, but he didn't see this tie as a loss either. I don't know what to say about that.

In reality its not. We were lucky it was a tie TBH because our defense poo the bed. So yea Davis should be upset but should Rivera be upset about Newtons performance? The coach speaks for the whole team and one side was getting it done while the other was not.

Is it weird that a part of me feels like if we were 3-3 right now, at least there would be some kind of definitive outcome and we could move forward with a clear understanding of where we stand?

I know that probably sounded like a clusterfug of words, but I haven't come to grips with accepting the fact that we neither won nor lost.  It's like the game never happened.

If we can destroy GB next weekend at Lambeau, then I will be able to move on.  Until then, I'm afraid I'm stuck in no-man's land on this game.

Is that true?  I don't understand how this can be accurate.

No, it isn't. Because ties act as a half win, half-loss, we would have an effective record of 9.5-6.5, which trumps a 9-7 record. If we win out, we make the playoffs.

    • We didn’t need a 50/50 ball receiver. We need guys who can create separation for Bryce to pinpoint the ball to at all levels of the defense. Tet may figure it out a few years from now but he will struggle to beat man coverage due to his lack of acceleration and what seems to be relatively slim frame.    The offense functioned much better with Theilen last season because of his ability to create separation from defenders. I don’t know why but that is Bryce’s go-to rather than a 50/50 ball which, in the NFL, is a throw you may make two times per game.    i wanted Tyle Warren because I feel he can end up being very much like Kelci and how he operates in space and how that chemistry between he and Mahomes doesn’t need a playbook. Then you’ve got Matthew Golden who is apparently burning everyone at Packers camp right now. He is very much like Antonio Brown.    We clearly made the pick we made so I should get over it. I think everyone is hoping for Mike Evans here but at best I think we may get a smaller DK Metcalf? Given what we know about his inability to break coverage at UA-Tuscon, it’s going to be even harder in THA LEAGUE.
    • With how WR starved we've been over the years I'll gladly take 7 on the roster.  There will no doubt be injuries so it gives flexibility and also makes it easier when someone needs to rest for a week for a nagging injury if someone else can step up.   The Renfrow story has been great.  Dude was on the couch dealing with some real stuff the last year and probably misses playing and is going all out.  And basically his hometown team, near his family, it's like a perfect storm.  We already knew he ran amazing routes and is a third down machine.  AT isn't going to be around forever but Renfrow could slide into that vet leadership role in the future.
    • I hope Deion will be well now, he's been battling a lot of health issues, as do almost every person of his or our age. Even one of the greatest athletes of his time has had to battle with health issues and thankfully it seems like he's been on top of things. Learn from him and stay on top of things, especially after 40. You really, really aren't as young as you feel.
