he is not being used and/or coached right. 

 

Have you considered that he's a poor decision maker with the ball in his hands like everywhere he has been in his career would indicate? He's not a distributor he attacks the rim. Not many teams can win with a PG that doesn't pass.

Certainly which is why he needs good coaching to teach him / anticipate how to distribute the ball. 

 

This is nothing ground breaking that cant be learned through good tape review and practice. He might never be a great passer but he can certainly become decent. 

 

Kemba's problem is he tries to take a tough shot over penetrating further collapsing the D and hitting the open man.

Kemba's assist numbers tonight is not common place.  He usually does a pretty decent job of distributing the ball.  I noticed that Lance was more or less playing the role of facilitator in tonight's game.  I wouldn't be surprised if this is a strategy used more often.
