Hornets expected to KEEP Stephenson

I'm fine with keeping Lance. He's really not the problem imo.

We need a capable shooter, LEGIT PG PLAY, and better coaching.

Problem #1: Re-signing Henderson for $6M per year instead of letting him walk. He's not a "scorer" and he's definitely not a shooter.

Problem #2: Drafting MKG and pairing him up with Henderson. Neither can shoot. You needed shooting. Even if you didn't have Henderson, why would you draft MKG second when everyone knew he couldn't shoot? With the #2 pick, YOU SHOULD DRAFT FOR NEED. You should've drafted someone with more potential to be a scorer who could also shoot.

Problem #3: Blaming Lance Stephenson for not being a "good fit" when he has never been known as a great "shooter" and expecting him to solve the shooting problems Cho created with the first two decisions. When they say he's not fitting in, of course the fact that he's not providing something they needed is implied.

Question: He may not have played like it always, but Stephenson is better than Henderson, and at this point he's probably still considered a better player around the league than MKG, so why is he the one you're trying to unload instead of finding some capable scoring-shooter to put beside him?

Answer: Because not blaming Stephenson would require you acknowledging Problems #1 & 2, along with you giving Marvin Williams way more money than you planned to give McRoberts and people were willing to give Paul Pierce. It's much easier to blame the new guy, as if the rest of the team is exactly what it was last year. It isn't. You're the problem, Cho.

Teams would also rather have Stephenson than many of the other pieces on your team.

Ok, i would much rather shop Kemba, then make a play for Reggie Jackson. Reggie Jackson has superstar potential, I would take Reggie over Kemba in a second. I have a feeling we will be in play for him

If i was to rebuild a team and and had to choose from non-starters Reggie Jackson would be my target as a backcourt guy.

Id trade Kemba, Lance in a pkg for a decent front line guy and make a huge run at Reggie when he is a free agent.

The free agents for 2015 are insane. Clear that cap room...get Marvin outta here at whatever cost.

Kemba and Al's FG% would go up a great deal if MKG developed a 3 point jump shot.

Stephenson too but MKG is really hurting us offensively. He makes the entire team better defensively, but the entire team worse offensively.

But the guys complaining about Marvin playing minutes over Zeller. A big reason why is because when MKG is on the floor we are having to play Williams to space the floor.

I've been paying attention to what the guy guarding MKG is doing the last couple of games. He is parking himself in the paint and floating. Basically has us playing 4 on 5 and forcing both Al and Kemba to settle for jump shots rather than get to the rim. A couple times they were doubling Al when he didn't even have the ball.

We are combating that by essentially playing Marvin at the 3 on offense and 4 on defense and MKG the opposite.

With Stephenson and MKG on the floor at same time it is even more congested.

Just stop.

MKG was out for the entire 10 game losing streak. Al has sucked all year. Kemba sucked while MKG was out, but since MKG has returned Kemba has been putting up All Star numbers.

Kemba & Al are better with MKG on the floor. He doesn't need a 3pt shot. Clifford just needs to play Neal & PJ, who can shoot 3s, at the 2 instead of freaking Geraldo.

Personally I think that is a better way to prove Kyrie Irving is vastly overrated than Kemba is great. I think both are around the same level. Average to good point guards. One just happens to be treated like he is a superstar while half our fan base hates the other.

He was also on the floor when we went on a scoring drought against Phoenix in the 4th and was on the floor when we fell behind 21-0 against the Cavs.

No doubt he makes us better on defense, but he also kills us on offense. We are playing 4 on 5 on offense with him on the floor. Makes everything more difficult.

Stephenson causes similar problems. But if we had a true 3 that could stretch the floor the floor would open up for him as well.

MKG is only 21, and he is a beast in transition and on defense. But he also really hurts our half court offense.

Exactly.

A Stephenson/Henderson & MKG at the 2-3 is terrible. But you're pointing out the wrong piece. MKG is a better scoring threat than Lance. The 2 position needs upgraded.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
