Prepping for Black Monday

There are a couple of coaches people expected to be on the firing line who have been told that they're safe.

The Titans have said they do not plan to fire head coach Ken Whisenhunt (ditto GM Ruston Webster). And surprisingly, the Redskins have told Jay Gruden that he'll be back too despite his losing season and rough relationship with star quarterback RG3.

Also surprising, Cowboys Coach Jason Garrett is reportedly not under contract next season. Minus an extension, he could wind up being a free agent.

I believe we desperately need changes to the offensive and special teams areas, but I'm not sure we'll get them.

I still think Rivera should be let go too but I'm not optimistic on that front.

Pretty convinced that we are seeing RR buy himself 1 more year.

Shula should absolutely be gone.  If RR doesn't make the call, and I'm DG, I'm telling RR in no uncertain terms....."Shula is your rope, careful what you do with it".

Would the Getti have more say so in hirings?

My best answer to that: Seen Steve Smith lately?

I'm going to wait to pass judgement on Rivera. If he has a good showing in the playoffs (and I'm counting the Falcons game as a playoff game) I'd at least give him another year.

I don't even necessarily think Shula should go. As bland as our offense can be, I think it could actually become a dominant, simple offense considering our roster youth. Solidify that line and acquire another weapon and I think we'd have enough talent to consistently move down the field.

I've seen enough of Rivera and Shula already.

I'm hoping not, but I acknowledge it's likely.

Would the Raiders trade for him or could they just assume his contract?

Harbaugh is under contract next year with the 9ers and the Raiders would need permission to talk to him and possibly offer compensation ie draft pick(s).

Harbaugh could resign and go to College FB.

Yes the relationship between 9er ownership/management and Harbaugh is so bad they'll eat a years contract potentially.

I think Baalke would happily pay for a plane ticket to Michigan.
