they are going to beat us by double digits and score 30 points while we are in single digits.

everyone with half a brain thinks that it will be a low scoring defensive battle. Since Dec 1, these are the #1 and #2 defenses in the entire NFL.

In 2012, the Seahawks beat the Panthers, 16-12.

In 2013, the Seahawks beat the Panthers, 12-7.

This season, the Seahawks beat the Panthers, 13-9.

NFLMocks.com:

"Ron Rivera’s team truly has nothing to lose, a dangerous reality that could hit the Seahawks head-on once this one kicks off.

...

I’m riding with the Panthers in a very close, chippy game. There won’t be anything attractive about this one for the casual fan, but it’s a film-watcher’s dream. The Panthers find a way to eke out a defensive battle, 21-19."

I can't argue that most talking heads are smart or that knowledgeable but it is almost unanimous that we are going to get smoked by a bunch. That includes Vegas where they are putting their money where their mouth is. An 11 point underdog i s huge in the playoffs.

Chris picks Seahawks (Carolina has no receivers)... Does Seattle?

Dirks picks Seahawks (should be close game)

Keyshawn picks Seahawks (no reason)

TJ picks Seahawks (no reason)

Boomer picks Seahawks (no reason)

"the under is a safe bet. ... Panthers have a formidable defense of their own with Luke Kuechly leading the way. Carolina held Marshawn Lynch and Russell Wilson to 97 combined rushing yards in the regular-season matchup ... This game will feature two red-hot defenses and offenses that rely on the running game, which will keep the clock ticking and the scoring opportunities down. Take the under."

California newspaper:

"Everybody knows how well Wilson can play as he’s been elevated as the prototype for the modern quarterback — elusive, agile and able to make “magic” happen on the field — but Cam Newton was originally supposed to be in Wilson’s shoes when he came out of the draft in 2011. I see today as the ideal stage for Newton to make a mark for himself and elevate his image along with his play. Carolina’s success will hinge on Newton’s performance ... I predict a close game"

keep going. I am sure if you look hard enough you can find a few more that predict a close game. I could spend the time to,refute it with virtually a raft of articles predicting the opposite but don't need to. You can open half a dozen threads here or Google it and find dozens of predictions which say it won't be close.

I actually think it will be close and that we will win but I am a homer and don't count. That still doesn't change the thesis that virtually everyone thinks that our offense and talent on the team is the worse of the 8 playoff teams.

NFL Spin Zone:

"the Panthers defense does matchup well with the Seahawks offense, as the Seahawks strength is to run the ball and the Panthers are very good at defending the run, especially as of late. I don’t think they will be able to completely shut down Marshawn Lynch , but I wouldn’t be surprised to see them have quite a bit of success.

...

Since this could become a defensive battle, kicking will be a key aspect of the game. Graham Gano has struggled in the past month, missing a field goal in three out of his last four games. Hauschka on the other hand has been automatic for most of the year, except for his week 16 kicking disaster in which he missed all three attempts against the Rams.

...

I think it will be a very low scoring game, in which points will be hard to come by, but the Seahawks will pull out the win."
