So what does Gettleman do with Cam?

All the people on here defending Gettleman and saying we can live without Cam, please post ITT so I can keep track of all your names once Cam leaves and we go 3-13, and you blame it on Rivera.

Who said Gettleman would let Cam go? That will never happen, and if it does, it shows incompetence. So far Gettleman has been very good.

In 4 years, we average 7.5 wins per season with Cam

this does not necessarily make him the greatest of all time.

I would let him play one more season to see how he performs before breaking the bank

You take Cam away and we average way less than 7.5 wins per season. Put more talent around him and we will average way more than 7.5 wins per season.

I see what you did there.

Quoting the same article it says "freed up 15 million in cap space for 13 and 14."

His new cap number from those years goes up by 1 million per year from his base salary climbing back up.

Still saved them 15 million in cap space, if the article is read completely.

Ice up son,..

Haha

That's true except I quoted the restructure Brady just completed and your quote is for the one he did in 2013.

Point being at the end of the day the RECENT restructure Brady signed didn't help the Pats from a cap perspective.

Cam is a highlight machine, but not so much a win machine.

Give it another season before breaking the bank because you have a crush on a player.

Look how stupid Chicago looks right now

Our franchise sucks a big bag of dicks when it comes to handling franchise qbs.

I'm going to use the Falcons as an example of surrounding a young qb early on.            First year w/ Ryan.....  the Falcons found Michael Turner,  a 1500+ yard rb that scored 18 TDs.    2nd year..  they signed the greatest TE of all time,  Tony G.    In '11... they went all in to draft Julio Jones.   This past year...   they gave him Devin Hester,  who is an ultra-speedy compliment to White and JJ..as well as a good return man. ..and drafted him the highest ranked LT in the first.         I don't like the Falcons and I think Ryan is extremely overrated  and without all the talent around him,  sucks.....but,  that is how you are supposed to build around a franchise qb.

You don't take an offense that was historically bad in '10...draft a franchise qb,  and just add a TE and a FB over the first three years...and then finally a WR in the fourth year and assume all will be well.

So the quote saving 15 million in CAP space per the article is just pushed aside?

The increasing cap each year is added to the newly reduced cap.

So for example new cap 10, old 17.5m. Next year 11 then 12.

Eventually the ships will dock here.

Yet where have the Falcons been sitting the past 2 playoffs?  That's right at home because they over spent on Offense and failed to help their defense.

Don't see it. We fumbled twice off the read option against Seattle this year. A turnover because Shula rely on cam too much as a runner in the running game. And he doesn't find 1 on 1 matchups against secondaries. When Seattle backup CB came in we only attacked him once. The game was over by time the Panthers finally threw deep on him to KB for a TD. Shula in Tampa, they were terrible in the redzone and we struggle with it as well. If Cam didn't start being involved more in offense during our win streak, I dont see us finishing the way we did

Has Shula had any success anywhere he has been? At least with Chud he had that one year in Cleveland, but Shula?

5 winning seasons in a row.   Like I said,  I don't like the Falcons..but they had a good streak going until Mike Smith started sucking and losing the lockerroom.

Bengals are the same way..   with building around Dalton..        playoffs every year.

Ravens have done a good job building around Flacco.

Seahawks w/ Wilson.   I don't know who found their #1 and #2 WRs,  but they have a dang good eye for talent.   They were dragging our defenders all over the field.    I went in not expecting much from their WRs,  but....they made fools out of our defense with how physical they played.

I'd give him Stafford money.

We almost have no choice, you don't let Franchise QB's walk.

If we do let him walk, then under the worst circumstances we don't find a legitimate replacement and end where we was b4 Cam.

Under the best circumstances, we find an elite QB, good luck.

Under the most likely circumstance, we find another Franchise QB, and find ourselves in the same do we or don't we or how much scenario.

Because option 2 is unlikely, option 1 is scary,

And option 3 is pointless, I say pay Cam.
