What does Gettleman do about Cam

So you've talked to Dave Gettleman personally about potential draft prospects? That's interesting, please, do tell us more.

Yes MHS, Gettleman believes that the gap between Anderson and Newton is so slim that one of his first key offseason moves in 2014 was to pick up Newton's fifth year option for 2015, guaranteeing him nearly $15 million for one season. Did you even read that before hitting post?

he's just making poo up as he goes apparently.

i still can't believe somebody who prides himself on how many masters degrees he has can seriously look at Anderson and Cam and come up with that post and think it reads like an educated idea.

i agree with mhs on a lot of poo about the panthers but this is lol funny.

Funny I hated on Jake for years. So your statement is false.

Actually not.. Because again Jake was a solid to good player.

To explain the point i was making (because you obviously missed it) is players who aren't good don't get hated on.. Who in the ACc hates or talk crap about Wake Forest? ?

But Duke and UNC are constantly hated on and talk crap about..

Just like Cam.. if he wasn't as good as us "huggers" know he is we nor the haters would exist. .

I didn't miss I just think Jake was a terrible QB. And bringing up ACC doesn't help because all the teams in the ACC suck.

I wouldn't bother arguing with an idiot like him, anyway. Not only can he not see anything objectively regarding Cam, he's also from Texas.

Nice snippy remark there. Can't argue my points, but hey, it's okay to attack me with ad hominens. It's cool. "Objective"? You serious?

Oh, btw, I'm kinda happy I live in Austin. Don't know why it's a bad thing?

Suggesting Derek Anderson is a money saving option to replace Cam because he beat the worst team in the league twice is silly. I agree we shouldn't make Cam the highest paid QB because he hasn't played like the best QB in the league. I think most Fans understand that but a lot of attempts at "objective" posts tend to flow towards the negative and minimize the positive. Those "slants" show the posters real intent.

I'm a big Cam supporter and I can admit.....

He needs to be more consistent. That's a given but most NFL teams want more consistency from their QB. Rogers, Wilson, and Brady my be the only exceptions.

He needs to be more accurate. Footwork has been an issue and Cam seemed to regress this season. I'm no orthopedist but I did have ACL reconstruction surgery so I'm familiar with your body trying to compensate for an injury. I think it logical to assume his ankle surgery may have played a part in allowing bad habits to affect his footwork. This is something I hope Cam makes a point to improve upon this offseason. Ken Dorsey can earn his money and help resolve the issue. Speaking of coaching.....I'd like to see Cam develop a little more touch so every ball isn't a laser.

He needs to eliminate dumb plays. The throw away pick in Cleveland and the pass that was almost a lateral while getting sacked against Arizona comes to mind. Sometimes Cam tries to do too much or force the ball. It's noble that he wants to always make a play but sometimes it's smarter to take a sack or punt than give the ball away via turnover.

Having said that....these issues are no secret and most QBs are working on the same problems. They're all correctable and I believe Cam will only get better.

Ok detractors.....really.....what else is there to complain about that isn't already mentioned?

I'm not sure what you're reading, but generally I've seen only maybe a few people who blame all that on his inconsistencies.

Most people seem to be able to recognize what occurred and apply sound logic in determining that while he needs to improve, other moving parts in our offense need to improve also. Our WR's have to start bringing down passes, and they have to be on the same page with routes.

I think Cam should consider visiting with Chris Weinke down at IMG Academy again, and bring the WR's along too.

One big thing we need to address in the offseason is speed. I think we could utilize fozzy more on screens, but we need another speedy receiver. I like Corey Brown, but he's going to need to bulk up some in the offseason, because right now he can't keep taking those hits.

We also need to figure out what to do at left tackle, Bell simply is not a starter, we need a mauler protecting our QB's blindside.

Shula should not be "the" scapegoat for our offense in 2014, but he didn't help at times. He has to improve his red zone playcalling, like now. When you have Cam Newton, Kelvin Benjamin, Greg Olsen, Jonathan Stewart, and Mike Tolbert, you should be able to score.

Maybe, but most times I read sound arguments from those who criticize Cam, they are met with feverish opposition. Once again, it's the internet, so I may be mis-interpreting things.

I agree, the WRs need improvement, the OL needs improvement, and Shula's redzone playcalling is laughable at times. I am not delusional to those facts either. However, I am not one to exactly "blame" Cam for all of our offensive inconsistencies as well. I think for many of us who are frustrated with Cam, it's the glaring mechanical and decision-making issues that have yet to be corrected, and for us, that provides discomfort. I hope he improves, but it's been a frustrating work-in-progress. This relates back to why I and some others do not think he is worth the price tag of $100+, however, for non-performance purposes, it may be warranted.

Geno had a better completion percentage rating then Cam this year.  So in a way yes he was.

corrected

Well, duh cause he had better weapons, better OC, better O-line, and wasn't injured.

Sound familiar? Lol
