Discouraging Stat: Cam/Rivera 0-26 when trailing by 3+ in 4th Q

Here is another interesting stat:

The Panthers under Cam/ Rivera are 4-27-1 when the opposition scores more than 20 points. (3-16 under Chud, 1-11-1 under Shula).

Meanwhile, the butt clinching Andrew Luck is 12-10 in games where the Colts' opposition scores more than 20 points....

blah another dumb example of using a meaningless stat to make story

IDK if this one is so meaningless. If our opponent puts up 20+ we lose 88% of the time? Seems like we are putting a bit too much pressure on our defense to perform.

The Cincy game is a perfect example. Sure, our defense didn't show up and we made some special teams errors, but at the end of the day we were still in great position to win the game. But sure enough a Jericho Cotchery drop and a couple of piss poor coaching decisions and we walk out with a tie LOL.

I have come to one conclusion.  This team was decimated so much by Hurney's ridiculous contracts and poor drafting that we have yet to build a solid roster from bottom to the top.  We blame the defense for part of this--yes, during Cam's first 2 years it was terrible.  But over the last 2 years, the defense has been solid.  They kept us in games.  This year the pieces will all come together.  We will have the OL and the WRs we need.  We will lose some dead money and probably upgrade RB.

Yeah thats no good. Shula has to go. I think the formula with him allows us to either dominate or lose. And it all depends on defense. Our offense just isnt explosive enough against good teams in the playoffs. Defense wins championships but we cant expect them to ball out of their minds for 16 weeks not even talking playoffs. Offense has to pull their weight.

That is kind of an amazing stat, you would think we would have accidentally won one by now.

I think the stat is more about Shula than Cam/Rivera.  When you have an offense that is not set up to come from behind then it is difficult for you to do so

Two years under Chud...Two years under Shula...essentially the same results.

True, although those were the first two years for both so I am more forgiving back then.  We also came back a couple of times and the defense blew it if memory serves, may be wrong though.

I nearly forgot that according to this board, Chud and his schemes and play calling were the problem before Shula and his schemes and play calling became the problem.

Funny how that works.
