Biz Growing His Hair Out

Blu Cat

Recommended Posts

Do we finally see Biz transforming into the player we all were hoping he'd become?

Had 14 points and 12 rebounds against the Knicks with a block and steal, on 5-7 shooting.

Last night, he was dominating the Spurs with 12 points, 15 boards, and 5 soul destroying blocks.

Even Popovich noticed:

“I thought he was a monster,” Popovich said about Biyombo. “He’s so strong. So athletic. So young. We just didn’t have anybody. We were talking about gang rebounding; it didn’t matter. He was too much of an athlete for us.”

Popovich was asked if Biyombo’s presence was such that his guards had to stop going to the basket.

“Well, one would think that a reasonable individual, after being just humiliated several times in a row, would think of a different option,” he said. “But we weren’t that reasonable. We just kept doing it. It’s a mystery to me, too. That will certainly be on the film session: ‘What were you thinking?’ ”

Dat though!

I believe in Biz as the future, many are not for him but I am. Pop would love to have him and he knows talent.

Good call. But I was just thinking...it would be cool for Bismack to resemble a NBA player consistently, period. Ben Wallace 2.0 ? Great but it's about time he's become serviceable, if indeed he has and this isn't a tease

He's serviceable but this team is so deficient skill wise that he only compounds the offensive problems.

That said, we have alot of youth and athleticism and having Biz in there allows the athletes to be athletes which is why we are playing better. In order to win, we are going to have to play games alot like last night and last year: tough, grind it out, out work your opponent, defense first slugfests.

If only he could shoot. I'm a season ticket holder and it pains me to sit around opposing team fans night in and night out just because the people in front of us would rather sell out each week to make a buck. When Biz air-balled a free throw I was surrounded by people laughing at the guy that was single handedly keeping the hornets in the game for a while. It's frustrating. Biz can't shoot at all, but no one out there plays with more heart.

He's still only 22 years old & has only played basketball for 5-6 years.

He still has big time potential. And he's looked like an All-Star in the limited games he's gotten starter minutes.

I said it 2 years ago & I still believe it; MJ & Cho believe Biz is our long-term Center. Hiring Ewing & signing Jefferson was because of Biz. Ewing works pretty much exclusively with Biz in the gym year round & Jefferson is a stop gap until he is ready.

He's starting to look ready.

Biz is never gonna average 20 points, or probably even 15. But he's got the ability to average 10 Pts 15 Reb 3 Blk over a season. He's already the best rim protector in the league.

Now imagine if Vonleh is averaging 20 Pts 10 Reb 3 years from now; he's got that talent.

Kemba- 20 Pts 5 Reb 6 Ast

??????

MKG- 10 Pts 8 Reb 2 Stl 1 Blk

Vonleh- 20 Pts 10 Reb

Biz- 10 Pts 15 Reb 3 Blk

All we'd need is a shooting guard and our lineup would be set. It's a long shot, but building through the draft always is. Cho has drafted a potentially great team that would be a nightmare defensively.

I agree, if Biz can get 10-15 points a game and continue to get double digit rebounds and play that defense, I'd be thrilled with him starting in there.

People forget Ben Wallace didn't have great years till he was half way into his career.

Biz is just so young, he's looking better though.  He'll put in the ffort, we just need to be patient.  And that heart, you can't coach that man.

This x100. Was refreshing to see someone else who sees what is going on without labeling every player on our roster under 24 a bust.

I believe the reason we drafted back to back PFs with legit offensive potential is because they are looking for someone to pair with Biz.

You don't have to tank to build through the draft because the lottery is a total crap shoot. There is a reason all of our "vet" players are only on 2 to 3 year deals. The team is trying to stay competitive and keep fans entertained while letting the young guys develop. I wouldn't be the best business move to rebrand and straight tank the first year.

I've always liked Biz and thought people were a bit too hard on him.  Everyone knew he was raw as fug and was going to be a straight up project in every sense of the word... but he's always had some intriguing potential.

Honestly this team is loaded with future potential with Kemba, Biz, MKG, and hopefully Vonleh (if not Cody).  All of them are works in progress and have the chance to be something special if they develop right.  Just need a legit SG somewhere down the line to put it over the top.

    • 99% of my complaints generally are front office complaints.  It may not appear that way always but that's where I have been for some time.   It's also why I constantly talk about random parts the last several years....  to this day, if they were going to draft Bryce Young....I thought they needed to do specific things.   They have literally done the opposite.   In a certain world, I would LOVE an AT.  A Bryce Young.  An XL.  All sorts of people.  How they have chosen to put it all together here? Meh.  I still think if Bryce Young is your QB....the easiest and obvious play for a team....would be a dynamic slot WR, a rec RB, and solid rec TE.  Spread it out.  Let him be the point guard.  I still think this team is being built for a different type QB....one that a Jake Delhomme style QB would thrive more in.  Which is in fact the heart of what Canales has been around and done.  So I nitpick it all.  If I had thought Bryce Young was going to rebound....I would have NEVER been all in on XL like I was.  I was all in XL because I thought the BY experiment was about to over quick.  Ladd would have made way more sense if you believed in BY IMO.   I don't think this team did.  I think Dave drafted XL because they were mentally ready to move on and did after 2 weeks.  and I thought the Frank think was bologna from the jump.  I just have hate the pairings and plan every since Rhule year 1.   Rhule year 1 was the last time I really thought this team was in a good place to give it a go.  It went horribly.  But....the zoomed out plan was pretty logical all around.  Rhule just was not ready and a clown on top of that.   I still think the Dave, BY, XL, Tmac build 3 round pegs and a square one at the end of the day.  Worst thing to happen to BY was to land in Carolina IMO.   Which is often how the NFL plays out.  Where you land and what the org does matters probably more than raw talent/ability often.  I do not actually have a problem with Adam Thielen in a vacuum.  He is overperforming in a vacuum all things considered.
    • Bryce Young could throw for 40 tds and 4500 yards this season and my gut instinct still says you would triple down on hating him.
    • They should just be predetermined slotted contracts.  I feel like that was the intention of the current system, but they left too much room for interpretation about guaranteed money.  I agree though.  You play for who drafts you or you don't play.
