Colts are gonna royally fug their salary cap

For what it's worth, Jim Irsay was just quoted as saying he isn't even thinking about a Luck deal right now, and said he is in year three of a five year deal so we have time to deal with that. Maybe a historically awful playoff performance changed his mind?

Interesting debate. Its not our money its JRs money. I dont care if Cam gets the biggest QB contract ever. 200 million go.

I just want a Superbowl and not collapse afterwards.

So they will have to figure out how to get the lowest CAP figure regardless of the contract size.

Whether Cam is able to dive in for touchdowns at 35 like,...humm,..Tom Brady is only open to someone with a crystal ball.

LMAO. If Cams not broken or quits football by then, I expect he will always have 5 rushing tds a year or more. If Tom can then Cam can do better.

There is one issue that many folks forget to look at when looking at "total" TD's when talking about Cam.

His crazy rookie rushing TD's isn't sustainable, long term.  It's just not.  You need to look at passing TD's, as that is the only thing that will/can get better and remain consistent.

Your point has been countered ad nauseam. Again, it's not Cam's fault that he had to be his team's #1 rushing option for 3.5 years, or that his lazy coaches were pounding him into the endzone at the goal line instead of the RBs. In the end, Cam's "total production" speaks for itself. Had better pass-catchers and coaches been put around him, he might have more passing TDs. Again, that's not entirely his fault.

Even in NE, Lafell still isn't a guy who creates anything, Smitty is still a "small target" in Baltimore, and Olsen still is incapable of YAC. How many passing TDs would Cam have if Cotchery doesn't drop the game-winner in Cincinnati, and Benjamin doesn't drop another 3 in the endzone this season? Those 4 would've been caught if that was an AJ Green or Megatron out there, just like they would've been dropped if it was Lafell or Ginn.

Are you playing the what if game?  If so, please keep the findings to yourself.

Cam's rushing TD's have gone down every season, I'm not bitching about it, nor concerned about it, but let's stick to facts here.

He will probably never rush for double digit TD's again, he may, but history says different.

He's earned it. We we're so close to drafting him, but he clearly didn't want to come here. Ask the Saints what happens when you pay your QB too much.

If you remember, Jerry's "pie chart" presser preceded the date underclassmen had to report by a few days.  I think that sealed the deal.

What I hate about giving a player like Luck $25 million is that every other qb who is starting when contract time rolls around will want that much.  Luck is going to be special--he is special.  They are not arguing about his worth in Indy.  So giving Luck, who in my opinion is not only elite, but a future hall of famer in his 3rd season, is closer to a consensus than what we are experiencing here.  So if anyone thinks paying a QB $25m screws up that team's salary cap, then they have to consider what it does to teams who have a "pretty good" QB---just not a great one--whose agent will use Luck's deal as a negotiation chip.

Gettlemen ain't playin that, I assure you. I have a feeling that he is going to piss off a lot of people on this board when the negotiations start.

Luck is on his 4th year of his 5 year deal. I believe they are going to wait through this year, use the option and deal with it when appropriate like we are doing with Cam.

Russell is a different story. Whether some of us think hes not so good or elite is irrelevant. Hes on a 3rd round pick deal amd he will have huge leverage. Seahawks are going to have to pay up and pay up big.
