Hornets Trade Wishlist

As our Roster stands now:

KEMBA- MO- Roberts

Hendo- Lance- PJ- Daniels

MKG- Taylor

Zeller- Williams- Vonleh

AL- BIZ- Maxiell

Red- injury

Green- very tradeable

BOLD CAPS- untouchable

So Kemba, Mo, MKG and Biz aren't going anywhere by my accounts. Throw PJ and Vonleh in there aswell because we just drafted them. Not saying they couldn't be packaged for a star player, but I doubt we do that before the deadline. I feel like we definitely will pull the trigger on a trade though.

Positions in need of upgrade rankings:

SG- need a spot up 3pt threat other than PJ, who doesn't get playing time behind 2 poor shooters.

SF- need a scorer off the bench behind MKG. Taylor could be that guy but with his off-the-court stuff- i don't know.

PF- Zeller/Williams/Vonleh have all the tools and talent and upside.. but no star quality - just solid

C- Biz seemed to finally get it together as Al seems to be slipping. Maxiell is a stop-gap

PG- Kemba and Mo should be super solid and Roberts has proven he can play solid minutes

Players on trade block at positions of need:

1. SG - Aaron Afflalo -

his game fills all the holes in our offense. his defense fits right in to. Denver won't budge from a 1st round pick.

2. SF - Wilson Chandler-

his game fills all the holes in our offense. his defense fits right in to. Denver won't budge from a 1st round pick.

3. PG/SG - Reggie Jackson -

we would definitely have to give up something back to OKC- they aren't just sellers. They would want someone that can help them right now in return. Maybe Marvin/Hendo

4. PF - Taj Gibson -

again, they aren't sellers. We would most definitely have to package Marvin/Hendo

5. PF - Thad Young -

we just made a trade with the Wolves. maybe we go back to them again. Thad would definitely give us the star potential at the PF position and an outside shot Zeller can't seem to find.

6. SG - Joe Johnson -

dat contract doe.. he is like Wilson Chandler and could be had for a package of Marvin/Lance/Hendo probably, but does that really help us?

7. PF - Miles Plumlee -

not really star potential, but solid play. could be had if we throw in a draft pick.

Conclusion:

I just want to get Lance off the team. After the Detroit loss last night with 0 pts AGAIN.. I have no more time for him. It's sad how wrong I was ranking him in the top 5-10 SGs in the league this offseason.. oh how wrong.. he has all the ability and talent if someone could just reign him, but i dont want to wait around for that at all. If we can send Lance to Denver for Afflalo or Chandler with a protected 1st rounder, I'm to the point where I close my eyes and say 'Yes'

We were all wrong, my friend. Lance was fools gold, and I have never been more disappointed or more wrong in getting a player on my team.

This is worse than the Adam Morrison pick...at least I expected him to suck!

Panthers comparison: Sean Gilbert

i was so excited with the signing as well. In indy it seemed like he was flirting with triple doubles damn near every night. I thought his production would even increase here in Charlotte but I was wrong

    • We're in alignment regarding Thielen not being a game changer/breaker for the Panthers. Getting the ball into hands of playmakers like TMac and XL is going to open up things more than it is getting it to Thielen underneath (or letting him go after 50/50 balls 20yds downfield in his mid-30s). However, in a room where the other guys are two second year guys and two rookies, having a reliable vet that they can learn from is just as important as it is for the QB to have as a reliable third option. I can see that being worth $8.5M (just 3%) of the $279.2M cap... especially when looking at what's left out there: https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/_/position/wr However, the idea that the team is forcing production to Thielen and leading to losses isn't supported by the data. Targets, not receiving yards, are how you can tell if a player is being "force fed." In the two games mentioned, let's look at the other players available... vs. TB 10 targets - Adam Thielen 9 targets - David Moore 8 targets - Tommy Tremble, Xavier Legette 3 targets - Jonathon Brooks 1 target - Dan Chisena, Feleipe Franks, Stephen Sullivan vs. PHI 11 targets - Adam Thielen 8 targets - Xavier Legette 5 targets - Chuba Hubbard, David Moore 2 targets - Tommy Tremble 1 target - Ja'Tavion Sanders, Deven Thompkins There isn't exactly a bounty of other names to throw the ball to. In those games, AT was one of the top 2 WRs. Diontae had been gone by that point.   So... yea. Agreed that Thielen isn't exactly carrying the team in his mid-30s, but it's undeniable that he was the most reliable target last season that still has quite a bit of value this season. Whether or not that value is reflected in a manner folks think on the contract is going to come down to personal taste. However, the idea that the team was forcing production to AT and that was the reason behind some losses couldn't be further from the truth.
    • I would also add that I think it's more than money.  AT has looked absolutely miserable out there at times, and there was a lot of speculation he would demand to be traded.  Personally, I thought he was a lock to be moved last year.  Maybe his hamstring is the only thing that prevents that from happening. The fact that he's not only willing to come back and play, but excited about it, really bodes well for Bryce.  AT is a veteran and he knows the game.  If he didn't have confidence in Bryce, I guarantee you he wouldn't be in a Panther uniform this year.  I'll take that as a positive.
