Kenny Bell

6'1 197 out of Nebraska

One thing that I take notice of in WRs are the ones that know how to go up and get the ball.  They either just out muscle defenders or seem to have a nose for it.  Landry and OBJ noticeably had these traits for Zach at LSU.

That brings me to Kenny Bell.  I'm in no way saying he's comparable to the guys I mentioned in their respective play but he has that nose for the ball and a huge home run threat.  The one thing keeping him in the mid-rounds seems to be questions in how much he can bulk up and he weighed in this weekend at 197 after staying around 185 most of college.  He not only is quick but seems to have that second level he kicks into that just blazes past guys and with the added mass, he still ran a 4.4 flat.

Keep your eye on Kenny Bell in R4-5.

Kenny Bell with unofficial 4.42, then 4.40 in forty but:

College Scout for GM Jr Scouting Josh Liskiewitz @JoshLiskiewitz

Nebraska's Bell had a very rough workout - stiff, upright on every break, poor tracker, fought the ball as well.

detroitlionsdraft.com Kent Lee Platte @ MathBomb

I like Kenny Bell , but he's looked awkward in these drills so far. Uncomfortable.

Alex Strehlow @ Alex107839

Kenny Bell appeared slow in gauntlet drill . #NFLCombine

Yeah he has technical aspects that need to be refined but that's something I think Proehl could work with.  He's definitely still worth a look.

Bell's one of the older prospects this draft. 5th year senior at Nebraska last year. Born on Feb. 25, 1992 (about to turn 23 in a few days)

2012 - 61.6 yards/game

2011 - 35.5 yards/game

2010 - redshirted

finished career as Nebraska Career Receptions Record Holder (181) and Nebraska Career Receiving Yards Record Holder (2,689)

Just curious, what makes you unimpressed to not take a gander on him in the late rounds?

I watched 5 minutes on every prospect today on YouTube. Do it every year.

Watched every drill the guy did today. Looked at his stat sheet. I even dig a little bit deeper just because this thread was started. I am just not impressed with anything I saw. Why waste a pick when you can pick someone that can actually contribute.

Kenny Bell RSP Film Room No.20: He's not just an athlete--

he's a physical, fearless football player.

Bell isn’t Odell Beckham, but the reasons I like his game aren’t much different on tape. I’m a fan of quick, physical, technically sound, smart, and versatile football players. Kenny Bell hits these marks. ... I’m a fan in the same way I was a fan of Odell Beckham

    • I'm really not stressing about upgrading from Bryce. I'm frustrated with our inability (or refusal) to recognize overall bad QB performance and failure to seriously address the issue. QB is the most impactful position on the field, and we're not only settling for what we've been given to this point, but we've rewarded it with a fully guaranteed 5th year extension for a player that's never played 2 NFL franchise QB quality games back to back in 3 seasons. I can't understand how that's ok from a coach's or GM's viewpoint. Successful franchises don't do things like this. It just doesn't make sense.  We do not have a top half of the league QB right now. Since we don't have that player, we should be looking for him. Pickett isn't it. Grier isn't it. Bryce hasn't proven he is yet. Until you have that sure fire franchise QB, you keep looking. You're not consistently making the playoffs, a deep run, or a SB appearance without one.  What's the worst that could happen? We end up with 2 potential number 1 QBs? How horrible.
    • Easy to understand Pickett, if this is anywhere close to on point. Canales wants to get as close to Bryce as he can- get the pace and timing in the throws as close a he can to Bryce. So the other players don’t have to adjust so much, to a new guy.       If Cam was the 1, he would look for a rocket arm.  But Bryce is the 1. Look for limited in the same way.  Low velocity, plenty of air under it, feels just like home when Picket comes in. And you have the guys on the second team not having such a radical adjustment (if they have to play) like with Dalton to Bryce.    Enter Grier. I guess we will collect those types.
    • Best part is if we draft him, we can also use him as our fourth and one QB sneaker
