Vince Gilligan's other new show: Battle Creek

I really try to stay away from cops shows because they are so played out. every other show is about cops or some form of law enforcement.

But after one episode i'm already hooked on it. Not bad for network, CBS and it's clones of CSI.

That luck extends to Battle Creek landing at CBS, the absolute best network for developing the kind of broad-appeal cop drama that Battle Creek is and that co-executive producer and show runner David Shore (House) helps polish. Sunday’s premiere sets up the premise in an entertaining, CBS-smooth kind of way, where Battle Creek, Mich., is the setting for a small-ish city (50,000, according to the show) with bigger-city issues. The underfunded police department can be a dangerous place to work (in that kind of broadcast-network danger where the peril is sometimes funny as it’s happening and almost never shocking or brutal).

I have yet to catch up on it, but frankly shows like House of Cards and True Detective have me spoiled.

Network TV cannot compete.   Even most of the AMC shows are way, way better.

I went downstairs this weekend on a break from watching HoC and my wife was watching 'Hawaii 5-0" on DVR... god, that crap is SO bad.

yeah 5-0 is terrible and so is all the CSIs and NCSIs Scorpion whatever other clone CBS comes up with.  They are all the same show. I do like a good buddy cop show and I think this one could be it, I loved The Good Guys a few years ago, but I guess nobody else did.

I read that CBS is trying to do SuperGirl as a crime drama....lol
