NFL Free Agency Update Thread

I just heard a guy on WFNZ in the Green Bay area literally say the one thing he seen when we played GB last season that the Panthers do not have is play makers for Cam. At least someone who follows a winning team is in agreement with me.

Yes, you savant you.  You are one of the exclusive few who have figured out that the Panthers need more receiving weapons for Cam Newton.  How did you ever figure this out?  It's not like it's one of the most popular topics of conversation about the Panthers both on this forum and in the media.

Of course it is obvious just waiting for someone to come up with a reason of why we are doing nothing to fix it. I personally think DG dislikes Cam.

Am I living in some twilight zone?  I completely understand why the Lions didn't want to pay Suh as if he's an elite QB, but is the NFLN really trying to sell people on the idea that a 31 year old Haloti Ngata coming off of a season in which he was suspended for a banned substance is equal to or perhaps even superior to Suh on the field?

Dafuq?

Suh averages 7 sacks per season.  Ngata averages under 3.  Suh averages 36 tackles per season.  Ngata averages 31.  Ngata is a space eater for the Lions if he isn't washed up, but he's nowhere near the disruptive force that Suh is.

I'm just waiting for people to realize that we're less than 24 hours into free agency and there's still an entire NFL draft that lies ahead.

Only if you do first. At least give me an argument against it or add something to it. Just passing along a message from a guy who is following a team that has actually won SBs.

Look you are in a Fa update post crying about stuff us fans have no control over ,,, Go to main forum page and make a new topic to cry about it if you want to  But this is Fa Update and what you are spewing is not contributing to anything this Thread is about ..

Suh just cost way too much money and the Lions at least got a good player back even if he is aging. Suh will be a bad signing for Miami.

This relates directly to our FA because I am wondering why we are signing no play makers to go opposite of Kelvin. I think I am free to express how I feel about the FA so far in this Update Thread.

If Boykin is the answer the Panthers have at the number 2 WR we are no doubt scoring more FGs instead of more TDs. Nobody who knows the game thinks Boykin is being signed to be the #2 receiver.

He's expected primarily to be signed as a special teams guy, maybe depth, and frankly could wind up just being a camp body.

Throw in that free agency isn't over tomorrow.  We have plenty of time, and after the initial frenzy the prices tend to go way down.

Amazing that we spent so much time ahead of time on this board discussing how silly it would be to overreact within the first hours of free agency, and yet people still went ahead and did it

Oh yeah.  A guy who's repeatedly said "this is out franchise quarterback" must really dislike him

And we are free to tell you how silly your opinion is.

This.  For most teams, their bottom of the roster guys contribute on special teams.  Last year, we had a bunch of bottom of the roster type WRs who didn't contribute on special teams - I'm talking about Cotchery, Avant, Bersin, and Brown.  Those are #4 type WRs at best.  That isn't acceptable.  Look at Boykin not as a potential #2, but perhaps a potential replacement for a guy like Bersin.

    • I respect his enthusiasm. Time will tell if it's warrented.
    • Oh I went off and fully entertained my wife last night as my emails go to her phone as well because of my health. So she got the whole conversation as it happened.    Like I went to games in Detroit for the cup finals, I've been to games in Greensboro, Raleigh, and Chicago as well. My mom and her nurse friend double dated one of the players from when the team was in Greensboro. "He's still with the team in some compacity as well." I know people who work for the team at the arena as well. How the hell would I not be considered a fan. Only reason I haven't gone to a game since 2022 is because of my health and money situation. Last game I went to was at United Center in Chicago and me and my wife spent around 1k for glass seats and some food at the arena and we were next to the penalty box. The pictures of the hurricane players I took are lost because my phone crapped out a few weeks later.
    • The Falcons win was a fantastic way to end the season and I think just about every Panthers fan would agree the team the coaching staff and particularly Bryce Young were impressive. We really needed that. Credit where it's due. At the same time. Now we have to establish it wasn't just a flash in the pan. We had one of those earlier in the season against the Raiders. As a tortured Panthers fan I have to acknowledge that. I know you're joking but in all seriousness I don't think the QB sneak is something for us to be concerned about in general but I would be lying to myself if I did not acknowledge that looking back at one particular game last season where we continually trotted out Eddie Pinero on 4th and short on the opponents side of the field we could use some creativity in those situations and it's also a matter of predictability. As time goes on it's something for Canales to work on and figure out. Especially with our kicker situation as it stands.
