Placeholder: Other Team's Cuts

Look around the league. There are quite a few players that are starters now after being cut from another team. It will be that way until they let teams keep more than 53 players.

A perfect example is Justin Hartwig. He just won a Super Bowl as the Steelers starting center after being cut by the Panthers.

He sucked on the Steelers too.

alphonso boone from the chiefs was cut. he's old but he has a lot of experience. played for a long time with the bears so he's used to playing DT in a tampa2 type.

he was shifted to DE when they made the move to a 3-4 but he's not that. he's a 4-3 guy.

6'3 305. not huge but he knows what he's doing.

It looks like either NT Anthony Toribio or NT Dean Muhtadi, or both could be out soon in Green Bay. Both are undersized for a gap-stuffing NT, but could fit Meeks' model of pass-rushing DTs. The rookie Muhtadi (6'3 295) is deceptively powerful. He has bowled a few O-linemen over in practice, and in games, though he doesn't get many tackles.

Saw Jeb Putzier got released last night, along with Klopfenstein who someone else mentioned. Both guy always struck me as better receivers than blockers, but I thought they were very good at both. Would love to see one of these guys come in and team up with Barnidge for our 2 TE sets.

In cold-hearted move of the day, Dusty Dvoracek was taken off of the Bears' IR and then cut. I know there was some interest on this board in him, so I wonder if signing him (while injured) this year, maybe for a 2-year deal so we have him already in the fold for next year. I don't know how that would work in terms of the roster spots and IR though.

Dvoracek was very talented but couldn't stay healthy.

You take a chance on a guy like that on a team that's deep at his position, not one that needs immediate help.

With the stuff coming from Jason LaCanfora, I may regret not taking the time to research Alfonso Boone yesterday when I had the notion :sosp:

    • Other than the wasted pick on Allar, id love this.
    • Hos production by snap count and targets isn't bad. They must REALLY be tired of dealing with his knuckleheaded behavior which is saying something for an organization that put up with Stephon Diggs for four years.
    • Bryce had his best season this year and it wasn't even remotely as good as Stroud's "worst" (2024, which was still a damn good season). His passer rating and efficiency were actually up this year compared to last.  His yards and TDs would likely have been higher as well, were it not for missing three games due to injury.  So he's actually improved his overall body of work. I don't see any trend downward whatsoever.  I agree the playoff game was a meltdown, but I think that had much more to do with missing weapons and what appeared to be an injured hand.  After his hand hit the center's helmet his accuracy clearly suffered.  It was a terrible game, but I don't foresee it being as career-altering. In regard to the topic of the thread, I'd trade 5 Bryce Youngs for one CJ Stroud in an instant and never look back.
