Obviously depending on how the draft plays out, I would like for him to not get past us in the 3rd.

It's interesting to think he might be worth more to us than other teams due to how successful he was with KB. I doubt the FO see it this way but his consistent play at college and that chemistry with KB has me excited about him.

I think the chemistry has more to do with the locker room, the film room, the on field communication, the huddle (not hear). When you play with someone for a long time and have ultimate success (National Championship), the bond that's created even between guys that don't play on the same side of the ball much less the same postion, is very strong and helps immediately with hwo things are done. Add to that the level of trust that already exists and chemistry can be very important. Apparently, Cam and KB hit it off right away so there is every reason to think that Greene would as well from a football perspective. Maybe not off the field, who knows?

I agree though that it does make his drafting with us unique (except for maybe Tampa but I don't see them going after him) and could complicate any offers. Interesting point.

Kind of reminds me of Ryan Broyles. This kid is a little taller I suppose. I really liked Broyles. Hated him being a Mizzou fan. He ran great routes, great hands. Intangible kind of guy with a small frame.

Injuries and the Lions being deep at receiver seem to have limited his career however.

Always have to worry about injuries with the little guys.

Yes!

But also at the same time when WR is one of our bigger needs and one of those top tier WRs falls to 25 he may be the   BPA.

It wouldn't hurt to get a 2nd #1 level WR for Cam throw to instead of reaching for another person at a position of need

if the draft is super deep again, wouldnt that mean that you wouldnt have to expend a first or second round pick on a WR, because you could still find a solid contributor in a later round?

I don't know how much his association with KB would have to do with anything, TBH. He's either a fit or he isn't. I think he is, but it has nothing to do with Benjamin.

I get that's not what is usually looked at, but why not? These guys have proven they can perform individually and complimented each other at college. All it takes is one block where KB knows which direction Greene might cut in and he might be through for a big gain. A receiver who doesn't know Greene might not throw that block or might choose the wrong direction. If there's a slight competitive advantage there why not use it?

I watched most of the FSU games this past year because they were on all the time and I wanted them to lose every single one. Every. Single. One.

As I watched Greene I said on more than one occassion that this kid is an NFL star. He was so dependable. He always seemed open and when he wasn't he caught the ball anyways. Great feet and great hands. Realizing that he has chemistry with KB already is just a plus. The two of them together were the 1 and 2 WRs for a National Championship. I see no reason that they wouldn't be very effective in the NFL as well. I get it that we wouldn't have a blazing fast speedster to "stretch" defenses. In short, I think that is overrated. Two legit threats to catch a ball is better than 1 threat and 1 guy running fast straight ahead. Add Olsen in to that mix and a good slot WR (not sure who that would be yet) and you have threats everywhere. Not threats to go 80 yards but threats to catch the ball everywhere (which I think is more important).

So if he is available in the 3rd, I'd advocate trading a 5th and 3rd to move up to get him. KB and Greene could be a special duo for years to come...and I hate FSU.

Hater.

Posted my rubbish explanation before reading this. You've got it spot on with this, everything I hear about this guy includes how great he is in the locker room.

Wide Right I: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wide_Right_I

Wide Right II: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wide_Right_II

EDIT: These don't have their own pages:

2000: Wide Right III[edit]

Miami took a 27–24 lead after a Ken Dorsey touchdown pass to Jeremy Shockey, but Seminole quarterback and 2000 Heisman Trophy winner Chris Weinke moved the Seminoles into field goal range during a last minute drive in Miami's Orange Bowl stadium. Florida State kicker Matt Munyon missed a field goal attempt again to the right to seal the Hurricanes' victory. Controversy erupted later in the season when the Seminoles were ranked higher by the BCS and picked to play in the Orange Bowl against Oklahoma for the national championship despite Miami being ranked higher in both the AP Poll and Coaches Poll. The Seminoles lost to the Sooners 13–2, while the Hurricanes defeated Florida 37–20 in the Sugar Bowl. Miami would finish #2 in the polls that year.

2002: Wide Left[edit]

The defending champion Hurricanes staged a comeback against the underdog Seminoles to take a 28–27 lead with only minutes remaining in the game in Miami. The Seminoles drove down the field to give kicker Xavier Beitia a chance to win the game with a last second field goal. Beitia missed the kick to the left, giving Miami the victory. FSU went on to win the Atlantic Coast Conference title with a 9–5 overall record, but lost in the Sugar Bowl to Georgia. Miami would finish the regular season undefeated and then lose in the 2003 Fiesta Bowl to Ohio State, in what is considered to be one of the greatest games in college football history.

2004 Orange Bowl: Wide Right IV[edit]

Main article: 2004 Orange Bowl

This contest, a rematch of the regular season game won by Miami, took place in the 2004 Orange Bowl. In this contest, Beitia missed a field goal—wide right—that could have given the Seminoles the lead with about 5 minutes left. This game was of lesser importance on a national scale compared to the other Wide Right games, but continued the streak of Florida State losses determined by a single kick. With the win, Miami would finish #5 in the polls that year. It also marked the first time in NCAA History a Quarterback had lost 5 times to the same team, as FSU Quarterback Chris Rix had started and played in all 5 losses going back to 2001. It was the only bowl meeting between the rivals, as Miami's move to the ACC the next season would make the schools intra-conference rivals and reduce the possibility of the teams ever meeting in a bowl game again.

Don't talk to me about winning the last 5 or anything recent. I'm a Miami fan...I live in the past by choice.

Makes sense now. Yea, I grew up in Fort Lauderdale so I was a big UM fan. I went to FSU and still UM was my second favorite college team. Still is.

But I will always, always, always, hate the Gators.

I went to UM in 1991 when we won the National Championship. I was a Freshman. It. Was. Epic. So FSU has been locked in to me as the #1 enemy. Strangely though, I like Winston and KB and Greene and some others. Maybe I'm actually softening on FSU because The U sucks so bad recently (or mediocre is more apt).

As a Yankees fan (I'm from NY), it just wasn't fun to hate on the Red Sox when they sucked for 85 years. Once they got good again, the rivalry was much better. Miami needs to get better and the emotions will heat up again.

And fug the Gators too. I'm with you on that one.

I'd like to see him in the 3rd:

Rashad Greene

Overview

In 2014, was a Biletnikoff Award semifinalist (nation's best wide receiver), selected second-team All-American and first-team All-ACC. Started all 14 games and set a single-season school record for receptions with 99. Became Florida State career leader in receptions and receiving yards. Was first-team All-ACC in 2013 and led the team in receptions and receiving yards. Became first Seminoles receiver since Anquan Boldin (2002) to finish with 1,000 receiving yards. In 2012, was honorable mention All-ACC. Returned two punts for touchdowns. Had appendectomy in August of 2012. In 2011, as a freshman, played in nine games and led the team in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns. As a senior at St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.), helped lead team to Class 5A state title. Competed in sprints and triple jumps in track.

Analysis

Strengths

Has the ability to play outside and from the slot and did so in college. Creates leverage with his routes. Plus concentration over the middle and near sidelines. Can get on top of off coverage quickly. Aware of boundaries and usually makes pro catch with two feet down. Silky athlete. Hits accelerator out of breaks, creating separation. Has long speed to make defender pay on missed tackles. Has some elusiveness after the catch. Shows subtle usage of hands to help him get open. Adjusts to poor throws. No wasted motion in his routes. Scouts love his "quiet competitiveness."

Weaknesses

Thin frame. Play strength needs improvement. Not very competitive blocking. Has to get better at using body to shield defender from the ball. Allows cornerbacks to break back on the ball rather than run through him. Hand size and hand strength might be an issue. Had 7 drops his junior year. Must improve at selling all aspects of the routes. Will give routes away -- especially on intermediate throws. Scouts say he makes himself "too small" as a target. Can be outmuscled.

NFL Comparison

Marvin Jones

Bottom Line

Very productive in big games and at big times. Greene has the athleticism and quicks to get open and has a natural smoothness in his routes. He might get pigeon-holed into a slot position, but that might not be a bad thing. Greene needs more route polish but should be able to compete for snaps right away.
