i think this is the second time we've taken a look at him. the FO must be impressed with him. he is a 5'8" receiver though. that scares me.

i think he would be a return specialist, and i seem to remember a 5'9" receiver doing some great things in Carolina for... oh... a decade. but still... 5'8" raises durablility concerns.

what say you scot?

Honestly I'd echo a lot of that.

My biggest question would be what round he might go in. I'd feel a lot better if it were a lower round, but I've seen speculation that puts him higher than I'd likely be comfortable with.

i think most big boards ive seen have him as a 4-6th rounder. sounds reasonable. i seem to remember one that had him valued as a 3rd round prospect. i dont know about that. 4th is as high as he should go imho.

however, i havent watched any tape on the kid. he is a friend of my cousin so i might be alittle biased. they went to the same high school.

i dont doubt that he can play. its how long his career will be and how effective he will be in our system. small receiver like him needs to be given the ball in space. we didnt do that well with Dwill, so im not confident our coaching staff could do that with a rookie WR whose only other upside is as a return specialist.

will go watch some tape and see if it changes my mind at all.

a few things struck me in this one. he seems to have great balance on contact to stay on his feet. he also seems to have both a superb awareness of where both the ball and the sideline are at. very good concentration. he is also speedy and shifty. cant comment on his route running and possession skills. he doesnt seem to be a WRP anyway. i think there was one play in that video where he took a handoff as an RB and took it to the house.

just confirms my suspicion that he will probably need great blocking and general space to make plays happen. though with his speed, he might could be that WRS we are looking for that will take the top off a defense every play, if he can hold up.

alot of the same here, but i noticed that he seems to have great acceleration after contact. there was one return in this video where he was contacted two or three times, and seemed to just slip out of each defender's grasps, and then kick it into gear and speed away from said defender. i also noticed, specifically about contact, that he tends to avoid the big hit somehow, at least on his receptions. he doesnt bounce off contact, but tends to just slip away from it unless a defender is already draped all over him.

found this from https://rotogrinders.com/pages/college-football-advanced-stats-wide-receivers-175014

reception%: 60.5

targets: 129

yards per target: 87.6

targets per game: 10.8

thats alot of incompletions, but damn when he gets the ball in his hands he will torch a defense. i know thats probably not all drops.

in all, i would be comfortable spending a 4th rounder on him if we didnt get Perriman, Dorsett, or Lockett
