July 25 - 31 in recent Panthers history

This may be too much for a Western grad to comprehend, but you have to actually make the playoffs to win a championship.  We all know that's an eternal fight for you ladies.  I did see you weren't picked dead last anymore.  Thank the lord for Mercer.

Actually we are something this year that App St. will never be again, nationally ranked.

Enjoy playing conference games with NMSU and Idaho. Gotta love those regional rivalries.

2013 Training Camp start tidbits:

July 26, 2013 - first training camp practice

- Jon Beason interviewed Ryan Kalil... fun.

- Cam's Presser video: talked about Shula vs. Chud, needing to establish a team identity, create winning habits.

- Here's a 19 page July 26, 2013 training camp thread.  A few things i noted

NFL Network was there, here's what they said:

NFL network is showing out TC live!!!  They talked about Cam not really being in a sophmore slum last year. They were also unsure if Cam has a enough weapons except for Steve Smith. They did talk about how strong the defense was but they were unsure of what Shula brings to the table as OC.

Crowd goes wild for Wofford alum Brentin Bersin

Kendrick Panther's pictures & thoughts from July 26 thread (unfortunately the picture links seem to be broken)

Swag's 7-26 Camp Observations - nice write up re: the rookies:

Significant rookie observations-

Star vs. Amini was intense. During one on one blocking drills, the two went up against each other 3-4 times. It really seemed like Amini was going hard at Star. I don't know if it is a rookie thing or a Tongan brother thing, but it was clear that Amini knew that he was going up against Star and he meant business...Nothing to read into that other than maybe Amini giving Star a warning that the NFL is no cakewalk. The result of these matchups were that Star went nowhere, Amini owned him and as you may have heard threw Star on his back at one time

Star- As expected he seems to struggle a bit, overwhelmed by Amini. After almost every play coach Eric Washington was giving him direct coaching. It may take some time for him to show dominance at this point, but he and coach Washington seemed to determined to get the most out of him.

Short-Showed good quickness, seemed to have more impact than Star in this early practice. Got a couple of good pushes up the middle in team drills, tossed Kugzilla aside on one play that would've likely gotten him a sack in a real game.

Kugbila- Really strong guy, reminds me a lot of Amini last year. Did a good job against the vets, he won some against Dwan and lost some against him too, really held his own and did not get overpowered. He did get off balance once against Short and whipped aside for what would have been a sack.

And for some photos from Jeremy:

Pilares looked great at times, not so good at others. Consistency has been his biggest issue so far as a Panther. That appears not to have changed.

Some players can do drills and chew gum at the same time.

JStew in his familiar training camp routine.

Star did not crack a smile the entire practice. He is the anti-Cam. Quiet, serious, I like that about him. Just get the job done young man.

Stay tuned for 2014 highlights in a little while.

Heyyyyy! Congrats on the ranking. It's about damn time. Never again, huh? Get a second hamster to power that Internet there in Cullowhee and read about this years team. That 79 we hung on you in 2007 would seem like a squeaker.

I always thought that star was born with a beard. He looks weird without one lol
