Way harder schedule

Our secondary better now than then

no KB

Thats the year we had Ginn and we got Ginn now

Same team, same QB, same coaching staff.. Grant it no Smitty and no Hardy but honestly Smitty lost a step that year and I think Funchess can at least duplicate Lafell's production that year.

Just model after that year and we can make things happen.

From a WR standpoint were still improved from this time last year. We had no clue how Benjamin would turn out just like the situation now with Funchess. If Funch can match KB's production from last season we should be much improved with Ginn back and improvement from Philly, Bersin, and Cotchery.

RB will play a huge role in the offense now and Cam has to be much better with his throws.

All in all we'll be fine.

Hey I'm just saying. We are by and large the same team and same coaching staff as in 2013 and our schedule is even easier. In fact with our O line and revamped secondary we might even be better than 2013 as a unit

again I'm trying to look at both positives and negatives. While it is possible to be a 7-8 win team without KB, it's also possible to do good things if we model after 2013

your optimism is admirable, albeit badly timed.

People want to sulk right now.

You don't go to someone's wake and tell their kids "hey at least he had great life insurance!"

thats a conversation for later.

I agree.

It's tough to look at the positives right now but I have to. I've been sulking since about 5 minutes after it happened. Anyone that saw the video knew exactly what it was. We were just holding on for a miracle.

Life is a bitch and today she was in heat. This team has bad ass leadership and they aren't going to lay down. Funchess, you just got a field promotion. Step up.

Agreed. I am upset as anyone else and I have already accepted it and moved forward. I am willing to bet the players and the team have already done the same because there is nothing that can be done about it now. They want to win regardless of obstacles thrown their way, and we know they are used to over coming these situations. They probably want to win even more so now for KB.

I agree all though this was a major blow, the team  still improved especially in the Run game and OL. We need to utilize the  2 TE set more while incorporating design runs from 2011 to open up the passing game. The offense should open up more with speed WRs.

P.S. I also believe Daryl Williams will play like  a1st round pick and leading the Panthers to a top 5 run game.

    • I agree.  Some situations are all we should ask--shadow the qb (someone suggested that) or cover a TE, or blitz from the big nickel position.  Forget S, edge, CB,LB--
    • I work with social emotional learning and I don't know why a player with all the tools (to Snow's point) sucks when he was a top 10 player in college.  It is not talent, and it is usually not due to some learning disability-.  It comes down to dispositions or emotions in a lot of cases. The reason I pointed out Simmons in particular is because he was drafted to be a DC's new weapon.  I have friends who played in the NFL and they talk about the amount they throw at you--and those were guys who played 1 position.  Simmons shows his ability on special teams--where you are a bit more turned loose than scripted or forced to read blocking schemes or pass routes, etc.  See ball, get ball.  Simmons has been tried at CB, nickel, S , LB edge and he has had 5 different coordinators if you do not count the STs guy.  This would overwhelm most people.  Nobody knows what it does to your confidence and motivation to go from the best player on your team and a top college player to getting cut.   I just think that players like this can be saved.  To say, "He just isn't good" is not to answer the question, "Why was this not noticed during the interviews?  game film?  Combine?  References?  etc.  No, there has to be something more to it than that.  I think Isaiah needs one job and that job should be aligned with a strength.  If he fails then, fine.  Maybe he lost his mojo.  Maybe he never had it.  But to understand what he has been through is to give the guy the benefit of the doubt.  If you played in high school, you got a happy meal version of what it is like in college.  College was an appetizer when compared to pros.  We shall see.  But I am more optimistic about Simmons than I am XL.  Simmons was asked to things most NFL players cannot do.  XL just needs to catch the damn ball in bounds.   Middle schoolers do it every day.
    • This was a super interesting analysis....and I will say I dont think it prevents us from looking at Safety in the draft. IF Ransom takes a step up and outplays Moehrig, there is an out for them after the year as a potential cap cut.  EVEN if not, if you are right and Simmons shows some promise as a Big nickel and Moehrig gets  injured and Ransom looks good (or even if Moehrig looks bad) I could see him being a cap casualty in 2027 as long as we feel we have enough talent there as starting potential.  Lotta football to play and Lotta injuries to happen.  Im hopeful because his measurables are through the roof, but unless they translate you still gotta go with what you got.
