UEFA Champions League Draw

Bayern gets Arsenal, nice to not have City this year after several years running.

United has Eindhoven as their seeded team, figures.

Not a great start for Leverkusen getting stuck with Barca.

Real and PSG drawn together, should be interesting.

You do realize Bayern barely squeak by Arsenal twice in last 2 times they met.

of course.  I was only commenting on the fact that City has been in our group several years in a row.  In fact we had both City and CSKA the last two years.  It would be boring to have either again

Man U gets the cakewalk group once again. City in group of death once again. Odds are they face Barca in the KO round again.

I would not underestimate CSKA and Wolfsburg.  CSKA just whooped Sporting.  Manchester United had a problem scoring as of late.

underestimating anyone in the CL is a deadly mistake. but it seems like they always get the easiest of draws. and odds are CSKAs fans will do something stupid and end up forcing the team to play in an empty stadium at some point in the group stage.

    • After some of the calls last year probably won't see much of a drop off

Resisting changes that would actually incentivize good performance and not seniority based systems. What a bunch of donkeys. Hope the replacements straight up take their jobs and never give them back. Sick of watching refs script games with no repercussions.
    • Donovan seems like highest risk to me. Lloyd and May have already established relationships with all these kids. There’s probably guys hitting the portal that they recruited from HS. And then there’s the possibility of transferring their own guys from their current teams. They’ve also been recruiting the HS kids for like the next 5 years already. Look at the Iowa coach who hit the ground running by transferring all his guys from his D2 program. Or going across sports to Cignetti transferring all his JMU guys year one then building off that to a national title year 2. Donovan is starting from square one having been in the NBA so long and he’s already 60. So you’re potentially punting year 1 for a guy you are just hoping to be a 10 year hire while you figure out how to actually develop your next home grown 20yr guy. That’s 1/10th of the time you have him, more or less at best. The hope would be that he would find some high level assistants who have been working the college recruiting trails already, but then are you giving up his ideal staff just to get a foothold in recruiting and transfers. Think Belichick year one was bad? Imagine how much worse it would be without Steve Belichicks transfer portal pulls. Hoping Mays or Lloyd are all they’re cracked up to be.
