A bit more of an update on Funchess and other injuries from BBR.

http://blackandbluereview.com/despite-new-injury-panthers-still-hope-charles-johnson-plays/

A lot of the article is about Charles Johnson. Here's an excerpt focusing on Funch & Cotch:

Rivera also mentioned defensive tackle Kawann Short, who sat out the first three games after dealing with back spasms, as a starter who could play against the Steelers.

Also, receiver Devin Funchess said, “If I’m practicing, I’m going to play.” That was after the rookie appeared to tweak his troublesome right hamstring during a 7-on-7 drill early in practice.

“We were getting a lot of reps. It might have just been tight, I don’t know what it was,” Funchess said before admitting, “You get frustrated. You come back feeling good and then it comes right back to you.”

Rivera did have one piece of good news on a day that didn’t have much. He said the groin injury Jerricho Cotchery suffered Friday night against the Patriots is “just a tweak” and the veteran receiver is expected to play in Week 1.

It doesn't sound real good for Colin Jones. Listening to tape of Ron Rivera, he was referring to Jones in the past tense.

I was just about to come post that here.  That hurts to read.  Ouch.

Hate it for Colin.  Dude provided more under-the-radar plays than anyone in the NFL probably.  He's a no-namer with big time game with what he does.

Glad to hear Kony is doing well, maybe that will shut some of you up about him.  There is no way he should be playing at this level right now.  He's further along than Hardy and CJ were at this stage, and I will go as far to say that he would have probably beaten out Frank for the starting RDE job before Week 4.

Just noticed this in D. Newton's write up re: today's practice.  No surprise:

Remmers to center: With starting center Ryan Kalil out with a sprained knee and backup Brian Folkerts a sprained ankle, right tackle Mike Remmers took the first-team snaps. Rookie Daryl Williams took over at right tackle. That probably will be the lineup for Pittsburgh. The Panthers can't afford to leave backup quarterback Derek Anderson (assuming Cam Newton doesn't play) vulnerable with a player that won't make the roster. It also makes Folkerts vulnerable to be cut if Remmers and Williams play well.
