Cam only completed 46 percent of his passes to KB

The loss of KB hurts a lot more than you're going to find in any stat.  He was regularly double teamed as defenses rolled coverage his way.  Everything isn't so black and white, especially in football.

Even with KB's inefficiency we don't have a single WR on the roster right now that is proven to demand the same level of attention, and with a bunch of nothing but #3 and #4 level guys... THAT is where it's going to hurt us.

I have always said that KB was good but not as good as his stats indicated, I already made a thread about this actually. A ton of his stats came in garbage time, while yes other receivers get stats in garbage time, KB was higher than average.

Kelvin did have some garbage time stats which aided to his 1,008+ yard season BUT I would have to respectfully disagee with you bro. Gametime is Gametime ... I actually think he was better than his statline indicated. Ontop of that, lack of focus probably costed him an extra 500 yards receiving and maybe 4 or more touchdowns ...which would have been even more amazing for the kid.

You don't catch a laser over Sherman and Earl Thomas @ the same time without having superstar ability.

This is a top 10 team and a division winner.

ESPN has us at 19, which means they expect about 5 or 6 wins out of us.

We are much better than that, but these ESPN 'experts' dont know anything other than Benji went down.

We didn't even post a winning record last year...not sure we should be a top 10 heading in.  18 teams had better records than us and we had the luxury of playing bad NFCS teams

So they have us at 19?

Man I love the disrespect. Put that article up on the bulletin board.

Cards, Bengals, Lions Chiefs, Dolphins, Vikings and Bills have no business being ahead of us.

NOT TO MENTION THE SAINTS - RANKED 3 SPOTS AHEAD OF US AT 16!  AND YES....... I'M SHOUTING!

Cam Newton completed only 46.7 percent of his attempts to Kelvin Benjamin last season, so Benjamin's season-ending injury might not be that devastating for the Panthers' offense.

Didn't know if it was posted or not.  Also the Power Rankings for the year.

It's an interesting stat and argument, but there is no doubt that teams would rather face our current receiving core without Benji than with Benji. His presence on the field would force teams to plan for him and Olsen, which could potentially make the jobs of Funchess and co easier. Without him teams will just plan for covering Olsen, and force Cam to throw to our other lacklustre options or force throws to Olsen. We aren't doomed, but even with a low completion percentage, this team will feel the loss of Benji from game one.

    • Brother re-check that guarantee...my page shows 30mill.....thats means he's staying in my book for at least til the end of 2026.  Im going to be my normal honest self, besides watching like half of the SB, I didn't know the guy. My guess is Panthers have a "planned model of paying players" and they almost had to spend a chunk of space on a DLman after Dbrown injury season gave them a nightmare out-come of worst D in NFL scoring. Once Milton got above Dbrown payments, they went with the plan B. A player whom the "co-GM" put his name with. Brad said turk would not be a problem off-field and leader, which the Panthers need badly. I dug in with the google-fu, I found out  I also found him playing lots of NT, which was shocking given the small frame. He seems ready for a bigger role and had a great SB too. IDK, I feel Dan Morgan was dead set on not going into this season without more DL depth and its there. The real deal is this, nearly all FA take one year to "adjust". I think turk is trying too hard and causing injuries as a result for his contract. Dbrown called turk "strong as hell" and I know for a fact Dbrowns has insane core and strength numbers. They lift together with the 50 LB difference...... you always lift with a guy who's similar in strength cause you can leave on the 8 wheels, let the other guy lift while you rest and go after him.  I do wish he had a better beginning to his panther career, 3 games for him to do so and it would cover up the low points if he made a few plays.... Again it felt like they almost had to make move/spend $$$ and Morgan was going to have DL depth this season no matter what...My best guess.
    • There's a reason DC wasn't getting calls to be a HC. He wasn't ready. His indecisiveness is infuriating. His lack of awareness is mystifying. He jumped at the chance to grab the David Tepper retirement plan and who can really blame him. Maybe with time he can grow into the job. But we're on year 8 of our 7 year rebuild. I think I'm gonna need a hip replacement before we get a decent HC.
