PFF has put out a list of 25 potential breakout players to watchin 2015.  Bene makes #7 on the list:

https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2015/09/11/top-25-nfl-breakout-players-for-2015/

  1. Bene Benwikere, CB, Panthers (83.1)

A fifth-round pick in the 2014 NFL draft, Benwikere flourished as a starter late in his rookie season. The only touchdown he gave up all season came in the divisional round of the playoffs against the Seattle Seahawks. That was also the only game all year where he gave up over 100 receiving yards, allowing 57 or less in the rest of the games he played in.

I like Bene alot, but with Norman, Peanut ans Shaq on the field I dont think he will get very many reps this year.

I do think Bene is a great player, but I think that Tillman is going to start in his position until Bene proves he is a better player. Rivera likes Peanut alot because he will deliver turnovers.

I really hope Tillman can stay healthy but having bene behind him is reassuring. We will still see him in nickle packages.

Ummm, why would we be playing a 4-3 when teams go 3+ WRs?

As much as I love Shaq's potential.  I don't see him on the field at all in 3 WR's sets.  I see his value in teams that have good TE's etc.  Our best defense by far is TD and Kuechly with Bene at Nickel.  Matter of fact I hope people run 3 WR's all year tbh.

I'm predicting Coleman will be a breakout player for the Panthers this year.  I confess I know very little about his prior career. (I looked it up once, but have forgotten the details...).  But somehow he seems like another guy who could be a very good fit for who we are as a team.  He just seems to bring an edge to the defense that may have been missing and will be valued, and I think will propel him onto the leaderboard.  I won't be surprised at all if he leads our team in interceptions.

Hoping Kony Ealy will also breakout in a big way.  He's been looking really good on the sacks in the preseason.  It would be great for us if he becomes that other dominant DE we've been looking for.

Then there are our rookies.  I expect Shaq, Williams & CAP will all be getting really good reviews at the end of the year.  Heck, they've already gotten some notice in the preseason.  Funchess I'm hopeful for too, but I still need to see how his chemistry develops with Cam.  We've hardly seen him catch any passes thrown by Cam.  It's all been throws from DA or Webb if I recall correctly.

    • lol josh allen looked pretty bad there for a while
    • He’s the best QB in the NFL right now. I’ve been saying that going back to the end of 2023. He has done more with less. Give him what the Ravens have and I think he’s got multiple Super Bowls at this point. I know Ravens fans and other people thought Lamar deserved the MVP last year but Allen, and really their last two match-ups, showed why Allen won it.    I don’t know if the Bills have the team to win a Super Bowl but they are good, and that’s because of Allen.    Watching them makes me realize the Panthers will never compete so long as Young is the starter. He just doesn’t have “it”. Maybe it’s a bit unrealistic to compare but Allen’s arm strength is pretty demoralizing.  He threw for 251 yards, in the 4th quarter. Bryce has thrown for 251 yards once or twice?
    • So true. Even with Josh Allen's first rough couple of years, you saw the potential with him. He just wasn't consistent, but he would rip off HUGE games both passing and rushing that would make you go "yeah, this dude has the chance to become something". Bryce has NEVER shown that. Not one game where you go "wow, this kid will be a beast". It's been the same sh*t since his first regular season game to now. Xavier Legette the same thing.  TMac today definitely looked the part. Just too bad we paired him with one the worst QBs in the league
