John Fox Era Playoff Teams...

Something to think about this weekend, in the John Fox era we have had three playoff teams and each of those teams was involved in a season opener that came down to the last play of the game. In 2003, Jake came off the bench to rally the team to a victory with a last second TD pass to Ricky Proehl. In 2005, the Saints booted a field goal in the final seconds to beat the Panthers at home. And in 2008 the Panthers pulled off a shocker on the last play with Jake hitting Dante Rosario for the TD against the Chargers.

Maybe we should be rooting for a close game rather than a blowout.

close games are awesome after we win them, but they're absolute murder while they're being played. i almost died during the game vs. green bay last year.

i am a fan of absolutely steamrolling opponents. :D

this. We had a close one against Chicago, either last year or two years ago, early in the season. I actually caused property damage during that one.

FYI, that's how you know you're really a fan of a team; you break a table with your fist because you're losing.

Memories: 2003. We had some fire boys, we had some fire. I miss Bill Rosinski

Oh yeah!!! I miss Bill too, there were times where I would listen to games on the radio and mute the TV. Now not so much. He is one of the best in the business.

I watched a Dwill and Jstew video while I was on Youtube just now. I completely forgot all the offseason drama and all my questions about the Panthers. I watch that vid, and I'm reminded of how DOMINANT the Panthers are going to be this year!

...on offense at least

    • I will admit this- Kon doesn't look or play like a 19 year. Much bigger and filled out than I thought he was. Plus initiate the offense during his best quarter and he did make some good passes for FG attempts.   I watch NBA years ago and was a top 3 fantasy yahoo managers for years. Many times a player had like 30 points, it mostly came from one or 2 hot quarters. The others were 5 and 0, so his 16 point game is normal in that regard.    If Ball, bridges, and Miller allow Kon to be apart of the team, just depends on if he clicks of not. Another generic white guy comp popped in my head........he of hornet lore-Gordon Hayward 15 points 5 rebs 3.5 asst Maybe??
    • Here are a couple of links.   Wish I had seen this before this past weekend as appears they had a big fundraiser event last week. https://sites.google.com/vollminadvisory.com/thewilmingtonarenaproject/home https://www.wwaytv3.com/wilmington-native-leads-push-for-new-multi-use-venue-to-attract-professional-hockey-team/ https://portcitydaily.com/latest-news/2025/07/13/wilmington-nonprofit-fundraising-for-10k-seat-arena-to-lure-pro-ice-hockey-team/ https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61577145613291
    • Especially with no other major sports in the area other than UNCW basketball and soccer. It's a good 2 1/2 hour drive just to catch a collegiate football game. If this new arena were built I would hope it also includes an Adult League - I would join up and time allowing would be more than happy to help coach some youth teams. 😄
