Charleston Panthers bar

I work at the Alley and have promoted on here a few times over the years. The Panthers game is always on the projectors with audio. Have had 20+ people showing up each week this season which is surprising for Charleston. Spread the word and bring friends..

Major changes must of occurred recently. Same topic came up last year on the huddle and again The Rusty Rudder was mentioned and not one single person was dressed in any Panthers garb, little to no Panthers paraphernalia and maybe 30" TV outside at the Tiki bar was scheduled to play the Panthers game. All staff was clueless as to what channel/tv the game was on. I sat down observed the situation and left after 5 minutes. Went to Reds ice house on Shem Creek and watched the Panthers beat the Bucs on opening day. True story.

So you haven't been there this year? Well that explains a lot.

Yes sir,it does explain everything. Really hope it is indeed a Panthers bar. So you are telling me it has changed and is somewhere a fan would want to spend GameDay when he isn't at the game in person? That would be great news if so and I would owe you a beer for educating me.

Yeah man they've redone the tiki bar. It's bigger and they added quite a few larger TVs. The sound is on the Panthers always. They just dropped a press release identifying themselves as a Panthers supporters bar and a Roaring Riot location. They give 15% off your tab to RR members (365 days a year). They give away tickets and other swag during the game. They're definitely doing everything they can to be a Panthers bar and they're very supportive.

When you were there they had not even been open for 3 months yet so I'm assuming there are quite a few changes. Go in and ask for Brian (the owner) and tell him I sent you and he will buy you a beer. He's in Charlotte for the home games so if you ask for him make sure it's an away game.

    • Kind of where I'm at on this also. I think he has the potential to be an all pro caliber guard if he can come back 100%. He's more mauler than quick. Hunt is making 20m per, Moton is making 22m. Moton is a better RT than Icky is a LT so I think the pay comp would probably be about the same there. I don't see Icky as a 28m per season LT. He'll be low 20s and as an elite guard, i think he'd be within a couple mill of that.
    • I read that Pittsburgh is a possibility.  I think of college QB studs who had some form of mental quirk yet tons of talent--but their issue made being a team leader difficult and it led to their demise--going back:  Jamarcus Russell, Art Schlichter, Jeff George, etc. I think people forget that the QB must not only have talent, but they must lead.
    • I wish I knew more details, but the NIL money to 20-year olds combined with easy access to gambling sites is a side effect that these kids may not have considered.  To your point,A famous 2009 Sports Illustrated article titled “How (and Why) Athletes Go Broke” estimated that 78% of retired NFL players go bankrupt or face significant financial stress within two years of leaving the league.  I am guessing that ego and $$$ and the thrill of competition (most pro athletes love competition because they are the winners) makes it a powerful temptation.  Throw in the ease of gambling on your phone which is always in your hand, and I see your point x 10.
