The Return of the Chud

No, this is not a Halloween Week re-run, it's really happening!

Last year the Colts did not want to lose Chud but did not want to replace their OC Hamilton.  So they gave him a new contract as "Associate" Head Coach and ignored/denied interview requests.  The theory was that they were worried about Hamilton getting a head coaching job and wanted Chud ready to go.

But now there are whispers that Chud is a leading candidate for the University of Miami job (which the colts can't block obviously) and the wheels could be turning.  When the Colts lose Monday night Irsay,  for his own ego's sake,  will can Pagano because it is Chud that he wants as the replacement and he does not want to risk losing him to a college job.

I have to be honest, I did not realize that Chud had landed here after the Browns fiasco.  And I don't know that I see his fingerprints on their offense.  But I'm sure there are some that still consider him a "genius".

Irsay wants Chud? Where did you see that?

meh,  I made it up because I was bored.  No recent link.

But really just reading between the lines.  Why else give him a raise and the title of Associate Head Coach at the end of last season?  Not sure if it is Irsay or Grigson that is behind him but one of them is for sure

If he's smart he'll keep doing whatever it is he's doing with the Colts. It'll take a rare individual to turn around the Miami football program, with the lack of resources at that school, and I don't see Chud as that guy. He just doesn't have the personality for it.

Why has Miami fallen off so bad why cant they do like they used to in recruiting

Their biggest booster is rotting in prison, no more love boat, cash, etc for recruiting. He also attempted to take the program down, just ask Vince Wilfork and Jon Beason who refused to talk to him or help him once his Ponzi scheme was discovered.

Eh, they just wanted him as a consultant. The title of asst head coach is meaningless.

I think Skipper carries that title with us. That doesn't mean he would be next in line behind Ron.

They named him "Associate" head coach, not assistant.  big difference in both status and $$$.

Also helps prevent teams from sniffing around for an OC.

Obviously they wanted him on their staff.

Still think he has no chance to be their next HC. Interim, perhaps.

    • Question to the posters on this thread because you are knowledgeable--I love watching and pull for the Canes, but I never played so I don't have the understanding I had when I played football then watched it.  Having said that, Do you think we are weak at Center?  I see the team to be pretty strong on the wings, promising defense, and weak at Goalie.  It would be ideal if the Canes had 1 more position to upgrade, not 2.  I don't think you can count on Anderson to play a full season and he is 35.  However, are we solid at Center in your view?
    • Couldn't agree more, Kooch is erratic and Freddy is fragile, maybe save the remaining cap space for a goalie stud at the deadline
    • There is one play that sold me-- it was around 2:38, I think.  It was 4th and 1 and the QB telegraphed and threw the ball out wide to TMac.  He had no blocking (the TE was very late) and four defenders collapsed on TMac behind the LOS. They seemed to know it was coming.  He got hit behind the LOS and battled through several hits to get three yards.  THAT play showed me his fire.
